What a day for Hannah.

CC gives up a 2-run HR with 2 outs in the btm of the 7th but then finishes it off. Dukes get a solid road win at UNCheat, 6-3.

UNC with a little rally but the Dukes hang on 6-3. Good P5 Road Win.

Great win. Too many LOB, but that can be worked out. Who pitches behind Cici will have to be figured out eventually, though.

Yep, that is a very solid road win. That is better than any CAA win would be.

Heck yeah, that UNCheat team upset then-#2 Alabama during opening weekend, 9-8, in Tallahassee. Also, they lost at top-10 FSU 2-1 in 8 innings.

Very comforting to have a Shifflett in the lineup. We might be the only enclave in the country that has more Shiffletts than Johnsons or Smiths!

Nice to see Hannah have a good game. Usually they DH for her.

Looks like Coach Laporte is working on the bottom of the lineup with these early games.

Obviously this year's team will have to rely more on it's bats than we have in the past.

If we could win 4 of 5 in Georgia this weekend, that would be a solid weekend. 5 of 5 would be fireworks. 3 of 5 would be rain.

Austin Peay is 3-3. Central Michigan has not won a game so far on the early season.

I think CC gets the starts against the hosts and perhaps LaPorte gets some better intel on what she does or doesn't have as far as #2 & #3 pitchers goes in the other 3 games (2 vs APU & 1 vs CMU).

Well, Austin Peay is 3-3, all against unranked teams. Central Michigan is 0-5 against meh teams.
I'd start CiCi against both Ga games, and whoever was pitching against SC against Peay. Then the pitchers who got shelled by Kansas should be able to handle Mich.

I will assume we'll see one of the backup pitchers starting against APU and perhaps may use 3 pitchers in that game if needed. CC to be saved for the nightcap.

FWIW, Central Michigan scored 2 in the bottom of the last to steal a win over Austin Peay, 4-3, in this morning's first game. At the top of the hour, APU may step into their game against us either really hosed off or down in the dumps having given away a win in the opener.

We have a quick turnaround from today to tomorrow when playing Georgia. 6 pm tonight, then again against them at 1:00pm tomorrow. And that's with a 10:30 AM game against AP sandwiched in between. Be nice to pitch our best against UGA. Can CC do both games and be effective?

CC doubles in 2 and then Newton SAC flies in another and the Good Gals take a 3-0 lead in the btm of the 3rd against APU. Boseman starts in the circle and has given us 3 shutout innings so far. Good bounce back by her (so far).

Naujokas singles in another run in the 3rd. Dukes now up 4-0 heading to the 4th. We can use all the insurance runs we can get. Stay hot Dukes!!

Kayla in a bit of trouble in the T4. Runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs.

Some bad fielding is tripping the Dukes up today. An error allows an unearned run to score and another runner move to 3rd. Then a sac fly brings that player home. 4-2 Dukes, but at least there are two outs now.

Nothing to gain versus the Peay, but exposure of a loss to Peay would not be good.

This weekend is all about the 2 Georgia games.

True, this is about using Georgia to gauge our level and gain RPI, but we cannot overlook opponents. Dukes are up 5-2 now after Kate Gordon hits a HR. Looks like she is starting to find the groove after starting off slow the first weekend.
