for smu if both waivers are approved they will have a pretty decent 7 man rotation..which you can win a ton of games with, cincy wasnt deep last season...but they need both just to get a good 7 man rotation...
if both waivers are denied they will have 1 note-able guard total..a juco, who tho is expected to be good, has yet to prove on this level...
if both waivers are rejected they will have the worst roster in the conference
as far as tulane..they had a complete roster overhual. and have a completely unique system..a system that turned georgia state a historically horrible team to a 22 win team his 1st year ..and hunter brought up a great point in a recent interview, everyone on his staff and every player but zhang is accustomed to winning and know what it takes (all the transfers are coming from winning programs )
and ecu-they too had a complete roster overhaul..they (fans/coaches) have non stop talked about how drastically better they are. they voluntarily gave some of their last season best players the boot (shawn Williams got immediate eligibility bcuz ecu was willing to put it on paper thay they pushed him out to make room) dooley did coach 10 years at Kansas, so on paper he should know what a good team looks like..and he feels he has a very good team
if smu gets both waivers, i think in a preseason ranking you have to put both of them at 11/12..but i wouldn't be shocked if one of them got a 8/9 finish

there will be a small section of cronin loyalist that will turn on brennan if he doesnt make the tourney ..but no one will care too much about their opinion, the administration will recognize its the 1st year of a coach on a completely different system

Oregon jumped up 10 spots from 17 to 7 by adding a 5 star and a 4 star in August.

Secondly, I do agree that Temple’s talent level is very good. Do think some losses in the past do to Dunphy favoring veteran players over better younger players. This happened two years ago when NPL and Moorman didn’t play as much as they should have. Do think Temple should have run more. That will happen with McKie at the helm.
As for rebounding, although Temple was out rebounded in conference play, like most teams playing against UCF and Tacko Fall, such stats exaggerated Temple’s rebounding deficit. Being down an average of three offensive rebounds per conference game is not many.Part of the problem was caused by bigs straying too far from the hoop. That’s not likely to happen this year.
Rose has not rebounding as he’s capable of. Rebounding has not effected but one of Temple’s five losses in conference play. As Temple was far out-rebounded playing UConn on the offensive board by 11, but still won the game by 18 points.,It’s my view that rebounding is not as big a factor in the outcome of games as winning the turnover battle is, and that’s something Temple is does well.
Temple’s main problem offensively is relying almost entirely on Alston, Rose, and NPL to score, and not telling them not to shoot as much when one is clearly off, and to instead, get other players who shoot the ball better, more involved.
your fandom has skewed your perception very badly.... i have a question is your name aodiamond in the 247/scout forums....
he hasnt done it recently be he used used to come overhype temples strength in the offseason and downplay there weaknesses (this was when temple was bad)
he'd over hype them to be good, theyd end up bad, next offseason he'd overhype them to be good, theyd end up bad...
rebounding isnt important becuase temple isnt good at rebounding
Temple won 23 games and lost 10. In some of Temple’s wins, Temple rebounded well. In 8 of Temple’s losses in the entire season, Temple had more offenses rebounds than opponents did. So rebounding did not effect 8 of Temple’s 10 total loses at all.
In the other two losses to both Villanova and Cincinnati, Temple was out-rebounded on the offensive end, but were still leading in both games with 6 minutes to go. So Temple being out-rebounded on the offensive end was hardly significant.
Rebounding totals can’t be viewed in a vacuum.
A teams shooting percentage, and having a positive turnover differential over an opponent, has a bigger impact than the rebounding differential on the outcome of a game. Such can be gleaned from what happened in Temple’s losses.
Also, agree that Temple did not rebound well last season, and Temple’s rebounding needs to improve. Also needs to improve it’s 2-point shooting defense. Think both will happen this year with both D.Moore, and Justyn Hamilton playing more, and HC not having both stray far from the hoop as they did last season.
The GS Warriors are not concerned by a rebounding deficit because the GS Warriors play small ball that creates certain scoring mismatches that outweighs any rebounding deficit that is sure to occur playing small ball.

In the other two losses to both Villanova and Cincinnati, Temple was out-rebounded on the offensive end, but we’re still winning both of those games with 6 minutes to go. I agree rebounding is important but there are other factors like shooting percentage, and turnover differential that effects more the outcome of a game. Such can be gleaned from what happened in Temple’s losses.

Temple was an NIT caliber team that snuck into the NCAA tournament last year. I think there is a world where they are a top 25 type team this year, but I'm not ready to predict it.

RE: Your Predictions AAC Basketball
I’m not ready to predict Temple’s a top 25 team until I see them play both USC and Maryland (rated top 25) that Temple plays in late November, but I surely believe they have the talent to be so.
Temple’s Scott, Rose, NPL, Moorman, Hamilton, are impact players.
Do think this will be a break-out year for Hamilton as he will playing more this season. Hopefully, he’ll shoot (Had TSP of 59 percent) more this season. Same for D.Moore who had a Total Shooting Percentage of 72 percent. Want to also see Moorman and Alani Moore, who both shot 42.5 percent on three’s in conference play, shoot more as well. Freshman D.Dunn should also contribute.
Key for Temple is for Temple’s good shooters not to keep jacking the ball up then their shots are off. Did this last season. Want to see the ball distributed to other good shooters. Temple lost games because they didn’t distribute the ball when they should have.
I’m now expanding my ACC’s top four teams of Memphis, Temple, Cincinnati, and UConn, to include Houston.
Winning the conference championship is going to be a dog-fight.

WSU needs to make marginal offensive improvement this year to be better. It's more important that they return to a T25 defensive squad. That's how Marshall's teams have been nationally relevant.
WSU may miss the scoring and shot-creation ability of the departing PG. But at the end of the day, that was a player averaging 11.9 points, not 16. And he was doing it on 12+ FGA. While being a below average defender that didn't run the offense.
It's not crazy for freshmen to go from 8 to 12ppg their sophomore seasons. It's also not crazy for a new player to come in and average 10ppg. IMO, it's much less reliant on getting waivers or injecting new players and expecting premier scoring from them. WSU will be highly successful this season not by having a new 17+ scorer, but by having 6 players between 8-13ppg and playing Great to Elite defense. That might not happen, but that is the path. The current WSU coach has done this sort of thing many times before. Again, doesn't guarantee anything, but there is a lot of history to give one confidence.
Gonna go with "Nailed it."

Bumping this gem on Nostradamus’ Birthday.
Half a dozen games to go so there's still plenty of time for SMU And Tulsa to finish 8/9 and for Memphis to win it all.

I was too high on Memphis (but at that time they had wiseman) and a little too high on usf (also pre key injury). I was too low on Tulsa and SMU (though I did think teams 5-10 would all be pretty good).

The ECU fans pissed that I said they and Tulane finishing bottom 2 was what I was most confident in was fun to revisit.
The miggy stuff was glorious to revisit.
The concerns about uc at center were greatly exaggerated.

LOL....very good chance either Haith or Jank get AAC COY. The only other candidate would be Brannen. But the diss level on Tulsa and AAU was practically unanimous.
You can now factor in injuries, guys not getting waivers, suspensions, guys leaving for Europe or the NBA..... etc. Then you can factor in general suckage.
Anybody even close to getting it right at this point? I would classify close to right as guessing the top four in any order and being no more than a place or maybe two off on each team.
Anybody?

My September Prediction wasn't bad. Memphis too high makes sense losing 2 of their top 3 (including the best freshman prospect in the country). USF had a key injury right before the season. I'm too low on SMU. Maybe a bit too low on Tulsa (we'll see how it plays out), but at least closer than most.
