According to Marshall’s AD, the Herd won’t be on NFL Network this year. From a letter he sent to Big Green members.......

“Also, I want to applaud Conference USA for its latest broadcast deal with the NFL Network. This is a positive step for exposure for the league and will benefit recruiting, even though Marshall will not appear on the network during the 2019 season.”

I hate how the league doesn't do 2-3 week windows before announcing TV. That way the best networks are ensured the best games. Instead of potentially having key conference games stuck on Facebook or ESPN+.

clt says it makes sense for NFLN to focus on NFL cities. Congrats to Charlotte and Rice.

Kind of surprised, but Doc's brand of Football isn't real exciting for tv, there are much more interesting teams in CUSA, defending champ UAB, East Division Champ FIU, throw in teams with new coaches those make for potentially better tv.

If anything, the Hamrick news tells us the NFL Network could be targeting weeks 2-11

I fully believe these NFL Network games will be ten straight weeks of matchups, and as others have said, potentially more viewers for our home games with P5 schools.

Honestly, the only home game that Marshall could appeal is that final week 14 matchup with FIU. And considering the news we just got, again makes me think they target weeks 2-11.

RE: Make Your Case for Which 10 Games Get the Primo 3 P.M. NFL Network Kickoffs
This is who I had for my weeks 2-11 predictions.

2 UCF @ FAU (also Wake Forest @ Rice)
3 Louisville vs WKU (also Duke @ MTSU, Texas @ Rice, Army @ UTSA)
4 FIU @ La Tech (also Baylor @ Rice)
5 Houston @ UNT
6 WKU @ ODU
7 UNT @ Southern Miss
8 Southern Miss @ La Tech (also MTSU @ UNT)
9 FAU @ ODU (also FIU @ MTSU)
10 MTSU @ Charlotte
11 FIU @ FAU

I had to change week 6 on the Hamrick news.

If the NFL Network can pull UCF vs FAU in week 2, then Louisville vs WKU in week 3, and finally Houston vs UNT in week 5...

Big win for us. All good eyeball matchups.

Major plus if we look strong in them.

Actually since the NFL Network came in soooo late all of Marshall's games have already been picked up by CBSSports or Stadium. There was nothing left to pick from with us.

Now find another way to try and downplay the program, Im positive you have more in you than that.

Hey, don't steal his moment of Doc criticism! Yep, Doc is so boring that we can't be on NFLN because all of our games were already snapped up by our existing partners.

Got a link to that? This one https://herdzone.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=340 is only showing 1 game with a "TV" pickup. I fully understand Marshall will be picked up more than that but the schedules (no one's) are not showing it.

edit: found this article from 4-16 and it only mentions the one game as of then. There's no news release on the TV schedule on https://herdzone.com/archives.aspx?path=football

Quote:HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall's football games with Florida Atlantic and Louisiana Tech have been moved to Friday and the start times for three other Saturday contests have been revealed as the Conference USA office released some of its 2019 broadcast information on Tuesday.

The Thundering Herd will now face the Owls Friday, October 18 at 6:30 p.m. in Boca Raton, Florida and the Bulldogs Friday, November 15 at 7 p.m. in Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

Additionally, Marshall will host Cincinnati on Saturday, September 28 at 5 p.m. and FIU Saturday, November 30 at 12 p.m., while traveling to Middle Tennessee for a 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on Saturday, October 5.

The Thundering Herd also announced in February that its road contest with Boise State moved to Friday, September 6 due to a national television opportunity.

The outlets carrying these games will be released by the league office at a later date.

Never mind I found a article talking about it...just not which carrier. So if facebook is getting to pick before the NFL Channel...

got to figure they are not paying much money for our games. Or maybe just got into it too late for this season.

Quote:Also, I want to applaud Conference USA for its latest broadcast deal with the NFL Network. This is a positive step for exposure for the league and will benefit recruiting, even though Marshall will not appear on the network during the 2019 season. The Marshall brand is coveted when it comes to broadcast opportunities, so all our games have been chosen for television this season. But the deal with NFL Network is beneficial for our program and our league on a national scale.

Well we know that NFL will be behind CBSSN in the picking order and they do some games on FB. Hopefully, NFL Network would get next choice if not this season then in the future at least. No point in having the exposure if we're not putting compelling games on.

Having 10 games of Two CUSA teams will not win out over a P5 team. That's why I dont believe there's a chance the NFL Network will wait till week 5 to jump into carrying games.

The Western vs UofL game time of 3pm was announced one week before CUSA announced this contract. At that point the NFL Network had to have told CUSA some of the games they wanted.

The last time Western played a Sept home game kicking off at 3:30 (Vandy) you had people passing out in the stands from the heat. You had a SRO crowd leaving before halftime because old people and kids could not take the heat. This was a game that went into OT and lost on a 2 point play.

I can not see Western repeating this and especially not with tickets costing $56 to $76 (if its 85+ degrees it will affect tickets sold) unless TV wanted the game

I haven't seen where the NFL Network is paying CUSA for these games. If anyone has that info, please share. I expect we are doing it for exposure, not any $s from NFL Network. That said, why would we want to use our 10 game allotment on OOC games? Viewers have plenty of opportunities to see CUSA teams getting victimized by P5 teams. No viewer cares to see a CUSA team hosting a FCS team and winning by 1 TD.

CBS sports net announced they are picking the Texas and Baylor games at Rice among others. Also have UCF at FAU and Miami at FIU. Only Saturday conference game is Marshall - FIU at the end of the season.

That can't be all of them for CUSA that airs on CBSSN, right? They only list 4 games.

Baylor at Rice – Saturday, Sept. 21 (7:00 PM, ET)

Miami vs. FIU – Saturday, Nov. 23 (7:00 PM, ET)
