His performance at UC seems to be an outlier when you look at the rest of his career. The question is...is he conservative?
He's whatever he needs to be to have to job and keep the grift going.

Then he'll fit right in in Washington. Not sure what the big deal is.

While I don't share your all out cynicism regarding all politicians and think the lumping all politicians together is kind of lazy and unfair, I get the "what is the big deal?" point. If I were a conservative in Alabama I'm sure I'd support Tuberville over Jones for the points realdeal made earlier. He's likely just going to be a rubber stamp for a conservative agenda who doesn't rock the boat.

I agree. Politicians are rightly a heavily criticized profession but just like any other profession there are going to be good ones and bad ones. As I mentioned earlier I think Tuberville will be exactly what he was here; put in minimal amount of effort and keep cashing checks. I do think a lot of them are genuine people who believe their policies will improve people's lives.

The race to win back Alabama is close! Liberal Doug Jones is outraising Coach Tuberville. Your support will be critical to defeating Jones in 2020 and defending the Republican majority in the Senate. Please donate $5, $20.20, $50 or more today to Coach Tuberville for Senate.
I guess I will match all UC money to Jones, double it and send it to TT.

I just convinced 100,000 UC graduates to each give 100 dollars to Doug Jones. Do the math on that and write the check.

I doubt YOU could convince 100 to send $10 to Jones. Just post the Credit Card statements and cancelled checks. LMAOAY.

I think too many of them strive to overstay their welcomes, some until the onset of senility and some well beyond. I can remember images of million-year-old Strom Thurmond being held up by staffers as he'd stumble into the Senate, a conspicuous urine stain on his trousers.
The answer, my friends, is term limits applicable to every seat in the US House and Senate. Serve your time, serve your consituents, serve honorably (if that's even possible) for the time allotted, and then retire gracefully, go back to wherever you come from, become a gentleman farmer or whatever, and enjoy your pension and former title until you cash in your chips.
Even if our elected representatives don't care about the example set by Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, the rest of us should.

As my brother is fond of saying, we have term limits now. It is called elections. Unfortunately, we refuse to vote the idiots out.

The answer is salary caps for congress--including any $$$ made through connections to lobbyists, K-street, campaigns, or foundations.

There was the recent report about Joe Biden's cancer foundation. Brought in over 4 million from various lobbyists/donors, but never did almost nothing but pay salaries to Biden family members before shutting down.
Worst part is that is so common in D.C. (Democrats and Republicans) that it barely raised an eyebrow.
