It felt nice to hear about his fraud and unethical behavior in front of a national audience. The host believes the Dems are pulling for Flubs, because he has so many issues.

Well, the Bama population drew the line at sleeping with minors, maybe that goal post will be moved forward again to significant investment fraud and covering up vehicular manslaughter.

So it TT's fault his wife was a bad driver, but not Biden's fault his kids are drug abusers, etc. and Hunter profiting off Joes influence over Ukraine/Barisma. Makes sense to me.

Didnt realize I was a Biden supporter...news to me 03-lmfao

Tuberville has used that as his opportunity and I'd be shocked if he didn't end up the nominee.

Trump got mad at Sessions for not telling him that he would recuse himself from what later became the Mueller investigation.

He said that had Sessions told him that he would recuse himself, he would not have put him in as AG.

So Sessions was actually the unethical one in not being up front in order to get the job.

Kind of. Although as I understand it, the real problem was Sessions failed to recall that he had 2 brief (and by all accounts inconsequential) meetings with Russian authorities during the campaign and thus didn't disclose them during his AG confirmation hearings. That unfortunate lapse (again nobody seems to think it was intentional) left him vulnerable to bias allegations in overseeing the specific Trump/Russian hoax investigation. So he (arguably correctly) decided it would be better to recuse himself which understandably infuriated Trump. I say understandably because Trump wanted/expected a more subservient relationship more like Obama got from his close personal friend Holder, who proudly went/goes around calling himself Obama's "wingman". (Or if you want to go back even further think JFK appointing his brother Bobby as his AG.) To wit:

Trump, lamenting Jeff Sessions' Russia recusal, says he has 'great respect' for Eric Holder because he 'protected' Obama

So, in my current best understanding, Sessions probably gets more heat from Trump than he deserved. However, his failure to recall the meetings (probably more so than the meetings themselves) was pretty much the root cause of his problems and it was a screw-up of his own doing. So he does bear responsibility for having to recuse himself thereby leaving Trump to fend for himself over a 3-year investigation by a group that pretty clearly wanted him gone by any legal or even illegal means necessary. And again I'm no expert, but I don't think Sessions really distinguished himself as AG particularly with regard to draining the swamp so I don't really feel that bad for him.

To be fair, you just don't slip on a banana peel and go 13-0 in the SEC.

Tubs did a craptastic job here at UC. That being said, I do not understand the people dismayed he has a chance to become a Senator. We have a lot of politicians in this country, of both political persuasions, sitting in office who had no real qualifications or skill set for their position- I mean NY has a congresswoman who was twenty-something year old bar tender for crying out loud. We have had other politicians come directly from the sports world- Tom Osbourne, Steve Largeant and JJ Watts immediately come to mind.

The Senate involves 2 types of people. 1. Is the people who are ambitious and seek to use their office to promote policies and potentially seek higher office. 2. Rubber stamps who are there to vote how their party tells them and collect checks.

Tubs did minimal work here and collected 4 years of checks. He's the perfect #2 type of Senator. My guess is he'll vote 100% of the time with Mitch; no reason to rock the boat. As someone from the right myself (although fed up with Republican leadership) I certainly hope he's #2 and isn't delusional enough to try to think he's qualified to actually accomplish anything.

RE: OT: Senator Tuberville: I'm Serious!
We need more Senators who represent average American people. Tuberville represents the type of Americans that Senators have traditionally represented. It's called the millionaire's club for a reason. Sadly, in this day and age, every rich guy thinks they can just take up politics as a hobby. Why not a Senator Joe the Plumber? Or a Senator Bearcatlett?

Not to mention, he collected one of the largesr public paychecks in the state and ran a major university's football program into the ground. From what I heard Tuberville was a nice guy. But I can't underplay the damage he did to our school at a crucial point in the CFB landscape.

Jesse has said being a professional wrestler was the perfect training ground to be a politician. In both situations you cut promos on each other in public but behind closed doors, over drinks, you make fun of all the people who believe it is all real.

May have to send a check to Doug Jones. No way is he less competent than the Riverboat Shambler.

It is not JJ Watts it is JC Watts and if you ever met the guy he is pretty sharp. And yes I have met him when I used to go up to Capitol Hill once a year to lobby.

One of the few things TT did well while at UC was to hold his weekly press conferences. He had all the platitudes down pat, and usually sounded quite good. It might translate into political popularity. (Not necessarily into being a good senator.)

As skeptical as I am of TT, I think we need to give him a bit of a chance. However, I do wish that chance had been as something other than a US Senator.

His performance at UC seems to be an outlier when you look at the rest of his career. The question is...is he conservative?
