Curious, what do you attribute these repeated misstatements too? Not being a polished politician? Mental problems, Playing 4D chess, What?

And what about things like this, that happen more than once:

You're honestly going to tell me that if Obama or Hillary or Biden started speaking like this that you wouldn't begin to question their mental competency? Puhleeze!

Since when did Trump start being known for being a good public speaker? This is nothing new.

I don't know, maybe the same thing that caused Obama to say "57 states," whatever that was.

More to the point, he's been a businessman, not a politician. His forte has been doing deals, not making speeches. I know plenty of very smart people who misspeak when speaking in public. Some are just bad speakers, because it's not what they are accustomed to doing. Dr. Denton Cooley, the famed heart surgeon, was a godawful public speaker, and I don't think anyone ever debated his mental acuity.

But Cooley did have one good off-the-cuff comment. At a trial, he was asked on the stand if he was the best heart surgeon in the world and he said yes. The attorney followed with, "Don't you think that may be a bit immodest?" Cooley replied, "Yes, but I am under oat." I could see Trump saying something like that if asked if he were the best anything.

He tends to be impulsive when speaking, saying whatever pops into his mouth. People who do that often misspeak without realizing it. That's something that tends to be pretty typical of populists.

I'd take a million of these over one, "If you like your doctor ..." or, "The police acted stupidly." And God knows I'd take a billion of them over Obama's disgusting speech at the memorial for the slain Dallas police officers.

Obama meant 57 states and territories.

There are NOT 57 states and territories. "Democrats abroad" is not a state and territory. He was confusing states with democratic delegations because all he thought about was politics.

50 states, 14 territories.

They didn't need to start talking like that for me to question both their mental and ethical competencies.

What did you attribute Obama's repeated lies about things that really matter in the grand scheme of things to?

"If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor"

"If you like your plan you can keep your plan"

"There will be no boots on the ground in Syria"

"The police acted stupidly"

"My position hasn't changed on using executive authority on immigration"

"ISIS is the JV team"

"We have doubled the distance our cars can go on a gallon of gas"

"Fast and Furious began under the Bush administration"

You weren't too concerned with factual statements on things that actually had an effect on American lives then but it's critical that Trump be factual on **** that doesn't amount to a hill of beans? GTFOH with that BS.

I'm amused by these stories but they're meaningless. Same with the recent story where he claimed the noise of wind turbines cause cancer. Face it, both Trump and AOC are not mental giants and they're both prone to gaffes. If we're going to make fun of one, we can make fun of them both.

But another story in the news today is more pertinent IMO - the House Democrats have officially requested the last six years of Trump's tax returns from the IRS. I do think it's high time they're released - the audit excuse has gotten a little long in the tooth.

I also think the story over the weekend of the Chinese national woman who somehow got into Mar-A-Lago with some malicious software programs is a story that should be investigated further.

There is no requirement for Trump or any other president to make their Tax Returns public anymore than there is a requirement that you make yours public.

If you think that the Chinese woman that got onto the grounds of Mar-A-Lago is through being investigated then you would be mistaken.

I absolutely think that being 72/73 is a big part of it. Call it “mental competency” if you like. I’d call them “senior moments”. Yeah there comes a point at which it could hurt him politically but as of now we are a long way from that.

My honest reaction was that Trump said “father” when he meant to say “grandfather”.

What about when he made that claim again last year?

Quote:THE PRESIDENT: No, many of them — in fact, Germany was going to be in the year 2028 or ’30. Yeah, I think it’s a very effective way to deal, but I didn’t deal exactly the way you said. I have great respect for Germany. My father is from Germany. Both of my parents are from the EU, despite the fact they don’t treat us well on trade.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-sta...s-belgium/

My reaction is that he's just a pathological liar, but to each their own I suppose.

Yeah....I felt the same way about Hussein.

That's just one of a large number of reasons not to release... The primary reasons are
a) He's not required to and
b) No basis for such a release has been presented (other than speculation and a fishing expedition)

While certainly something that should be investigated', what does this have to do with Trump, other than as a potential victim?

Yep, and the drones that watch that pablum eat it up as they cannot find the energy to get out of their mother’s basement to learn how to think for themselves.

Obama was tired is the most likely reason for his statement. That being said, we've covered this to no end and as I've pointed out numerous times, he didn't say 57 states. He said, 50...then paused and said 7. He realized that no, he had not visited all 50 states, but rather 47. Hence the 7. He just left out the 40 part. As you'll see, he says that he will not visit 2 of the 3 remaining states that he hasn't visited yet.

Perhaps trump would be less tired if he didn't get up to tweet at 3:47 in the morning!

Folks in the real world this is what you call a gloss. Obama screws up and the spin masters are charged with thinking up a plausible cover.

Redwingtom I dub thee Glossy Tom! With Fast Food Guy opening this ridiculous thread of no substance but full of hollow board calories, and now with your "gloss" of a past Obama faux pas it seems to me you are both worthy of your monikers.

And they legally have no right to them. That’s confidential information. But you know that. If they do have them released I think the Trump administration should push to have theirs released that way we can see how people making $100k+ a year serving are multi millionaires.

Do you really want me to dig up a bunch of current Trump gaffes including some that clearly point out how he has no grasp on economic issues? It would be my pleasure to do so.

I kind of like the tradition of presidents releasing their tax information (something every president has done at least once since Ford. Call me old-fashioned I guess.

In terms of Mar-A-Lago security, first there was the story about the Chinese lady who used to own that strip club where Robert Kraft got caught selling 'visits' to Mar-A-Lago to her Chinese acquaintances so they could possibly meet with Trump. And then this incident happens over the weekend. Either it's an odd coincidence or they need to do a better job of beefing up security at a fairly public place to begin with (country clubs aren't open door but you're not talking about White House security either).

Well by the standard you've presented here Leftwingtom we should have already questioned Obama's mental competency. Have you forgotten his speech at the Prayer Breakfast where he misstated several times the word corpsman (pronounced core-man) by instead calling it corpse-man? Puhleeze!

I'm sure that resonated in all fifty-seven states. Oh, wait.
