8 AM finished 4th in this poll after 2/3/6. It’ll be interesting if STF accounts for these results and trial balloons an 8 AM kickoff in the future.

NIU jumped to major college football (renamed I-A, renamed FBS) in 1970, so before that they were playing in the IIAC with ISU, WIU, EIU etc and you would expect the record to be competitive. Losses to those teams after 1970 are (literally) major upsets.

9-4 vs them since 1970. Played ISU every year from '73-'81. I would have used the head-to-head website that conveniently gives you team vs team records from any given time period.....but it doesn't list FCS teams.

Yea and fun fact: NIU is 4-0 vs ILSTU since 1980 and outscored them 145-50 in that time.

If ISU defeats NIU this year I would not consider it to be a major upset. A top 20 FCS team will be competative against many FBS teams in the MAC, the Sun Belt and the Mountain West conferences.
That said, we better not lose to ISU this year as I am driving to the game from Central Ohio and bringing 4 family members. That is too far to drive and too much of a financial investment to endure a loss!

Yep, according to Massey, playing Illinois State this year is the same SOS as playing Western Michigan.

If we can't handle ILSTU because they're top 15 in their kiddie poll then we are in some serious **** with road dates at real top 25 teams on the horizon.

I was thinking the same thing, but they have a chip on their shoulder with NIU like we do with the Ohio States of the world. Chip on the shoulder is pretty powerful, these games we have to come out swinging, don't let off the gas. Execute, don't let off the gas, finish.

Illinois State has alot going in their favor for this game. It will be a tough game. I dont think you can take anything out of that game good or bad when extrapolating to Utah. Illinois State would be top 65 to top 85 in FBS this year, Utah is probabaly a top 8 team. The Utah game is going to be a real tough watch, and I fear, not competitive

Illinois State went 6-5 last year with one of those wins being against a NAIA team. Calm down.
Also, Utah is not a top 8 team.

Ill St will play hard no doubt. Some of their fans are very disrespectful and just dbags. I hope we clobber them.
They beat CSU last year but I heard on ESPNU radio this morning how bad they were.

Agreed, they will play hard, they have the talent but the question comes with depth, especially in the trenches, their fans are DEFINITELY dbags (not all, but many of them feel they are Bama caliber), and god I hope we beat them
