Couple of fresh cuts:

Mike Anderson out at ARK
Wyking Jones out at Cal
Tim Miles out at Neb

i realize that there's probably not a ton of overlap in terms of recruiting circles, etc. but given our needs are there any transfers or recruits that may jump onto the Bearcats bandwagon?

Really thought Anderson would be good at Arkansas. Unreal.

Turns out his best run was at UAB I think.

He took Missouri to the Elite in 2009 and the last game he coached for them was when he lost to the Bearcats in 2011. In his 8 seasons at Arkansas he took them to the NCAA Tournament 3 times and won 2 games. I thought that Anderson would be really good at Arkansas as well.

And Tim Miles? The Corn be crazy. Miles has enjoyed more success than anyone outside of Danny Nee. I believe they'll regret this decision in a few years.

Not if they hire Hoiberg.

Was remembering the time we beat his Tigers in 2011. I remember when Larry Davis(player not coach) dunked on Kim English, Yancy owned the paint and was bowling over undersized guys, like some dude in a Godzilla costume kicking over buildings... happier times.
Nostalgia is a *****.

So is losing to Iowa.

I thought Frank Haith coached that Missouri team?

Yep. Interest on both sides. Dude can flat out coach and has all of his contacts in the Midwest. If Mick left, he would be my dream pick. Oh well.

I think Hoiberg is a good coach too, but I'm wondering why the Cronin-can't-win-in-March crowd would be so enamored.

In 5 years at Iowa St. he made 4 NCAA tournaments. He made it out of the first weekend once, at which point they lost as a 3 seed to 6th seeded UConn (the eventual champs). In his last year there he got bounced in the first round as a 3 seed by 14th seeded UAB.

Same here on Anderson. He did well at UAB and did a pretty good job at Missouri after taking over a mess from Quin Snyder. The Elite 8 team he had was really good. Very surprised things didn't work out at Arkansas. He was always a very good coach IMO.

Frankly I think ball handling has gotten a ton better over the last decade and the 40 minutes of hell style he inherited from Nolan Richardson just doesn't work like it used to. There are more wings and front court players than can handle the ball and help break pressure. There are still solid pressing teams, but they do it a lot more strategically and selectively. WVU was really one of the few good to great teams in recent years to successfully use the all out pressing style. It's hard to do it these days.

I agree. Pressing can be very effective against certain teams and in certain situations, but is not a good model to be ran 40 minutes versus any opponent.
