I believe they had a ton of injuries. I went to a couple games and they had a ton of key guys not even in the lineup due to injuries

First 13 games are at the Bud, starting next Friday afternoon. Selfishly hoping we get an evening home men's basketball game on the 23rd so I can do a baseball/basketball double header.

Monarchs score 3 in first inning of 2019 vs. High Point.


High Point was 34-22 last season with an RPI rank of 113.

I still find it weird that ODU has a front-ended home schedule. I guess it'd be weirder if they were playing teams from the Deep South in Norfolk in February, but still.

I was going to ask why ODU seems to always play such a Northeast-centric OOC but I guess that's where they recruit most often. From a SOS perspective it'd be nice to do a southern swing every couple of years, hit some of those A-Sun/Sun Belt programs that we wouldn't give a damn about in basketball but would help on the diamond.

Baseball travel is expensive. Big roster. Especially for a three game weekend series. And especially with a CUSA spread that we already have to deal with in-conference.

I think they took a bus down to FL last year or the year before. It was at the end of the season so after final exams no doubt. But they were gone for like a week and a half or something.

I'd bet a lot of those A-Sun/Sun Belt teams are also hosting northern schools early in the season. Those northern schools get early games out of it that they can't get in at home due to the weather.

They're up 7-0 in the 7th in first game of twin bill.

Friday night's win was one of the weirdest things I have seen for a walk-off win, lol. Rutgers brought a new pitcher in and tried to pick Pasquantino off of first. The only problem, the first baseman was playing back way off of first and not on the bag. This allowed Schwarz to stroll right in from 3rd for the win. Rutgers pitcher lost the game for them without even throwing a pitch, lol.

ODU beats Campbell 4-3 today. The Monarchs scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to pull off the win.
