The Monarchs played their final regular season game today in the deciding game of the WKU series. Trailing 5-10 going into the ninth ODU rallied scoring seven runs on their way to a 12-10 win. This was their seventh straight conference series win. The Monarchs completed the regular season with an overall record of 35-19, and a CUSA record of 16-14, and their rpi currently ranks at #62.

That's a roller coaster of a season right there. Congrats to the guys ending things on a run.

My sons team ended their fall ball with a 13 to 13 tie with the only other team to be winless all season. Iids rallied from 13 to 9 to tie it at 13.

Looks like 5 seed ODU starts off on 5/22 with 4 seed WKU. That should be fun playing them 4 straight times.

I like the matchup. Win and we likely get FAU which we won 2 of 3 against (and was a 9th inning collapse from a series sweep). We avoid USM until the third game theoretically.

As it stands right now, we are around 10 teams away from the last at-large bid. That game 2 loss to WKU hurt us by about 4 or 5 slots. Gonna have to win the CUSAT to get in.

Vinnie makes the 1st team, along with Fr. Andy Garriola. Thought Bryce Wyndham would have made it too. (2nd team for him)

With 5 on the first two teams it looks like we had the most selections (edited, tied with SO Miss). Then two more on all Freshman team. Great showing.

Battle deserved it.

He's been out since the first VCU game where he got hit by a pitch and broke his hand, and just returned this past weekend. He missed over a third of the season.

It was encouraging to see him go 4 for 9 this past weekend though after the long absence.

Yeah, I can see why he didn't. But, he played well enough (when healthy) to be on.

Lost to WKU in the first round. Onto the losers bracket. Game finished around 2am.

My fault. I gave up and went to bed a little after 1:00 this morning. Should have stayed with it. But -- it ain't over till we say it's over!

I keep waiting for the year when we finally perform well in the post season. Been waiting for almost 40 years.
One year we were the number 1 NCAA regional seed and lost our opening game to friggin Rider. In 2014 we blew a 9th inning lead to Maryland and lost after giving up back to back HBP's to score the tying and winning runs.
I think we only have 4 conference tourney wins in D1. That is not in line with the number of good teams we have had during the regular season.
