Only 11 turnovers in 50 minutes of basketball. Pretty great!

Toews had 6 of his 9 assists from 6:06 left in regulation through the end. JMU entered averaging 7.5 steals and only had 4. It was your first game in which neither team blocked a shot since a 68-65 loss at Hofstra on February 22, 2007. That was 369 games ago.

Thought it was interesting that, according to their tv play by play guy, Toews second cousin was on a Stanley Cup winning team.

Oh, I thought you were talking about Sims shot mechanics (which are very good). Maybe I need to watch more because I never felt that he was super flat with his shot. When you're snapping it off with a high release, it may not look great and appear flat, but it can be effective (some felt that he was one of the better HS shooters in NC last year). Regardless, I feel great when he shoots that 3 ball as "part" of his game. His next step will be to drive it and to keep getting better overall. He had a good plus/minus when I checked out the stats earlier.
Good to get that one because it looked bad for a while!

Eh. It looks pretty good to me. Not silky smooth but plenty good enough to make a defender respect a ball fake and attack the lane. I think our future depends a lot on his progression. So does the staff. He had good contributions without scoring this game. He has the length you need to compete against almost any kid on the wing.

Yes. Naturally high release with wingspan. Good rotation on the ball. Needs to assert himself and attack more. Has tremendous upside on both sides of the court. Great to see him gaining confidence.

Looking at Simms' build, he may not be through growing.

RE: @ JMU (Thursday, Jan 3 - 7 PM)
Stats of the game.
2nd chance points UNCW 24 JMU 6
Points in the paint UNCW 46 JMU 24
Question for the year. What has happened to Fornes and Taylor? Our Juniors have all but disappeared.
Fornes started and played 13 minutes in the first half, going 1-4 and 0-3 from three. Then, 3 minutes in the second half going 0-3 and 0-2 from three, then none in OT. Scoring three points total.
Taylor played 3 minutes in the first half, 2 minutes in the second half, and none in OT, scoring three points.

RE: @ JMU (Thursday, Jan 3 - 7 PM)
It sure was Proff. Most people don't understand what Ty brings to the freaking table. The man plays very good defense and can shoot very well plus can handle it some. A very good all-around guy to have and he's pretty clutch too! I love having him back and we seem to play well when he's out there. Hawks have good depth this year which is great. In the end, we will have to have a killer at the 2 to seal things at some point. Hopefully that will shake out. Right now, Toews is doing his thing and needs a few guys to step up, be confident, and knock it down or drive the freaking ball.
I called UNCW to win this game on the CAA projection, and they came through. It wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Jeantal Cylla. He really stepped up tonight. Ties the game on a tip in and then down 4 in double OT to nail a 3. That's freaking clutch. Great job.
Still, if you look at the stats, how did UNCW not win in regulation with such a rebounding advantage and minimal TO plus had a decided advantage in 2nd chance points? There's a lot to improve on but they needed this. They clearly have more overall talent than most CAA teams, maybe they grew up some tonight.
