Question for the year. What has happened to Fornes and Taylor? Our Juniors have all but disappeared.

Fornes started and played 13 minutes in the first half, going 1-4 and 0-3 from three. Then, 3 minutes in the second half going 0-3 and 0-2 from three, then none in OT. Scoring three points total.

Taylor played 3 minutes in the first half, 2 minutes in the second half, and none in OT, scoring three points.

I don't think Fornes and Taylor have been very consistent. I don't understand why. They are better than that. But I do still think they can turn it around and be important contributors to this team. We definitely need them to.

They will get their chance to be in there. It's all about performance at this point and it's a team game. Whoever is hot and confident plus defending well will play all else equal. It shouldn't be any other way. They will come around at some point because, yes, they are too good not too. Hawks win so they all win! Onto Towson as a team!!

On the athletic department website it was noted that Toews broke John Goldsberry's freshman assist record. Old record 105. Toews has 114 already. Wow!

that's absurd! It's not unreasonable to think he has a shot at doubling up the old record.

An absolute gutsy performance by Ty G... Played 30 minutes after only one full practice since being cleared... makes the assist on the go ahead basket, gets a huge offensive rebound on pure hustle, and knocks down two clutch free throws all in the last minute. Good things just tend to happen when he's on the court, glad to have him back.

Will be interesting to see if he has any soreness from playing so much last night. Kind of a quick turn around with the Towson game at 2pm on Saturday, I wonder if he'll be able to handle a full workload again.

I thought Taylor made a couple of really good plays in the 5 minutes he was in there. Hit a big 3 in the 2nd half, followed it with a very unselfish pass to Cacok for an easy layup. Rushed a floater which resulted in an airball and foul by him and McGrath immediately yanked him out and he didn't come back in. Not arguing that he should've played more, I think McGrath pulled all the right strings in regards to the rotation last night. I just wouldn't be surprised if he gets more of a chance here coming up. In 5 minutes, he had 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and hit his only 3...

I haven't seen anything that would indicate that he is hurt. I think he got put in McGrath's dog house from his subpar defense and shooting woes earlier in the season. I hope he can work his way back into more minutes. I thought he had a pretty good chance of making All-Conference this season after the Campbell game... Now he's just searching for minutes.

yeah, he was great in the Campbell game. Even with his shooting struggles, i think he should be playing more on this squad. I think he was nursing an injury before Christmas, but i had not heard anything since.

He even has a chance at the CAA season record. If he plays every game and you lose your first CAA Tournament game, he's on pace for 236, which would be fifth in CAA history. He's averaging 7.6. If you win one CAA Tournament game, he needs to average 8.06 the rest of the season to tie the CAA record of 251 shared by George Mason's Curtis McCants in 1994-1995 and Navy's Doug Wojcik in 1985-1986. The most assists by a player since the northern teams joined is 244 by Northeastern's Jose Juan Barea in 2005-2006. Hofstra's Juan'ya Green is fourth with 243 in 2015-2016. Barea, Green (2014-2015 and 2015-2016), and James Madison's Benny Gordon 9who had 221 in 1986-1987) are the only player in the Top 10 in season assists on teams that are still in the CAA.

Last season there was a pursuit of several CAA records. William & Mary shot free throws .810 to easily break Hofstra's record of .761 from 2010-2011. Joe Chealey came close to Old Dominion's Petey Sessom's season free throws made record and finished 4 short. Rokas Gustys came close to Navy's David Robinson's career rebounds record and finished 9 short. Cacok is likely to finish third in career rebounds. He's 84 behind Navy's Vernon Butler who is third and 274 behind Gustys.

Edit: The NCAA gives the most season assists by freshmen going down to three players tied for 6th with 252. Toews could finish in the top ten among freshmen.

And to think, Cacok didn't really get much PT is freshman year.

yeah, to think even if he played say 50% and had marginal numbers, he be pushing all time records.

RE: @ JMU (Thursday, Jan 3 - 7 PM)
Should Cacok have gotten to play more as a freshman over guys who didn't shoot threes like Gettys, Bryan, and Ogbodo? Bryan had a field goal percentage of .430, which is horrible for a season with only 1 three attempted. Of those four players, Cacok had the highest field goal percentage and was second to Gettys in rebounds per minute.

Not playing much as a freshman also applies to Justin Wright-Foreman, who scored 44 as a freshman. If he scored at his season pace for the rest of this season and one more, he would break David Robinson's CAA record of 2,669, and might reach 3,000. If he scores at his season pace for the rest of this season and you give him 4 combined CAA Tournament and NCAA or NIT games, he will finish with 2,277, which would be 5th in CAA history. Charles Jenkins graduated in 2011 with 2,513, which is 2nd to David Robinson. The most career points by a CAA player who graduated after 2011 is 2,222 by Delaware's Devon Saddler, who graduated in 2014. Your record is 2,144 by Blizzard.

Wow... That really irked me, I was tempted to fire a shot back in your defense but decided it was best to take the high road. Louis Rowe seems like jerk and so does their fanbase. I hope they keep each other company for many years to come.

Eh, I didn't see much wrong with their responses. I was expecting a lot worse. They were just tongue in cheek retorts from an extremely frustrated fanbase that is in no mood for any kind of "moral victories".

None thanked you for the kind words so yeah, that comes off poorly. But I've had mostly positive experiences posting over on the JMU board overall, so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Also, during the game, they had a lot of nice things to say about Toews.

I enjoyed when they put 5 new players in the game last night at about the 12 minute mark. That was cool and I really saw great hustle and energy from those guys on defense. All of them were working hard and it looked good. And, you're talking about good players also so that was cool to see. UNCW definitely has a bunch of options this year.

I don't see any reason why the Hawks can't make this a 2-0 road swing if they just keep playing solid ball and working just a bit better to stay connected defensively. The offense looks good.

Yeah. I wasn’t overly offended or I would have fired back, but Gary Miller I do appreciate the sentiment (though I know I’m quoting 08 here). I agree 08 in terms of their not wanting to hear about moral victories. We can certainly understand that. I’m just glad to be part of a fan base that I can’t really fathom any of you responding like that. We generally take that high road Gary Miller mentioned. Just didn’t want y’all to potentially do the same and receive the same result. Oh wells. Let’s go get another road win!!!!
