I thought it was to remind us how good Wayne Yates' winning percentage was.

Pastner inherited our program at its peak of national prominence, giving him an immediate huge edge in recruiting and fan support. Penny inherited a program with a greatly diminished image and is attempting to rebuild it. Perhaps it would be fairer to compare Pastner’s record his last 3 years with Penny’s overall record to date.

The purpose is to track the predictions of some in here who claimed that by the time Penny has gotten all his own players that he will have a far better record than almost any other coach.
So far he is still mid-pack among tigers coaches.
We are letting things play out and tracking the progress to see if those predictions come true.

I don't mind it at all. Kinda neat, imo.
Me too. I enjoy stats in general and I do enjoy this thread. I hope penny has a very successful career in Memphis and we get to see him go up the list.

So. Wayne Yates was pretty good? I was too young. I don't remember.

He was decent. Just couldn’t control his players. He had some wild ones on his team.

I’m amazed at the defenders that Pastner still has. Never got what they saw in him.

Pastner ? Isn't he the guy that inherited a program with looming sanctions and a weak returning roster? Isn't he also the last guy to actually take us to our last tournament -- actually the last 4 I think?

Just saw it my point is the same. If Penny had been in that CUSA we would have made the tourney with him as well. Pastner finished fifth in the American and got destroyed in the first round on his home court with a senior laden roster. Hasn’t sniff an NCAA bid since in 7 years.

We had 5 wins against ranked opponents, including #5,7,12,18 and #23. All we needed was for Pellom to not be hurt and we would have been a Sweet 16 team. Maybe he is sniffing glue like you are.

That was one of the more frustrating teams to watch, in my opinion. When that team lost, it lost big (i.e., the first OKState game). All the chemistry issues with the 4 guards, Nick King, and Iverson. It was nice to beat Louisville; but other things were so frustrating to watch. Can someone, anyone, please guard Niels Giffey?

Just the pleasure of exposing the illogical beliefs of some in here. Those who let their hero-worship blind them from reality.
If it were to as some think to somehow suggest push pastner, I would be talking about his 3 quad 1 wins this year, including a beat down of a top 25 team this week on the road.
What is our quad 1 record so far?
