RE: ODU vs North Texas
1. We stayed until the end. Glad we did. My parents took our 2 home with them since they left at halftime due to the weather. (My dad is older now and can't manage the cold like he used to.)

2. I've had the chance to meet Duhart and he's a good egg. Always seems to have a smile on his face. Glad they ejected NT #4. He probably would have had a target on his back all night otherwise.

3. The refereeing in the 2nd half was horrendous and obviously so. The booing was loud and I think the team liked hearing it and knowing the fans in the stands cared enough to let the refs know how they felt.

Agree. They were actually into it for once.

Another positive. They had the kids in the big blue club in the line when the team ran out of the tunnel tonstsrt the game.

I was with my son down in the tunnel waiting and OX came through randomly as They were finishing up warmups and made sure each kid got a big high five and was genuinely enjoying himself, you could tell.

My son, despite wanting to leave as it got colder, had a really awesome time. I give odu crap for the production level of some of the technical issues but the folks down there coordinating the big blue kids club and the boys and girls they had running it were great and go out of their way to make it s memorable experience.

Unbelievable comeback win! It was gratifying to witness after enduring the cold and horrendous start. It’s a shame more fans didn’t stay to enjoy it.

Sorry, you missed the end of an epic comeback, but I have to say your kids looked absolutely miserable at halftime. You didn't really have a choice. My slack@$$ brother, whose girlfriend is supposed be the "huge ODU fan", but left 2 minutes into the third quarter, not so much. It wasn't THAT cold, but I work outside.

Shouldn't they be more concerned with how their team looked? I mean scoring only 3 points in a half against one of the worst defensive teams in the country.

True story. FAU is winning and paying their coach a lot more than we do and still can't get fans in the stands. I thought there were a lot more fans at the start than I expected the way this year has gone and with such low expectations for this game.

Congrats to the team for the comeback win.

At this point in the season, no one should question why fans left early but hail to those who stayed to the very end.

Dr. Selig, please do something about your pathetic TV production and camera crew. What an embarrassment.

I guess we should add black to our school colors now that this team insists on wearing it on a regular basis.

You can say whatever you want, but we need fans in the stands if we ever expect to become a more well known team. Most of us have kids, friends and relatives and feel the cold weather. No one is judging anyone, but a nearly empty stadium looks terrible and everyone who left contributed to that.
Maybe don't start with a 2-7 record? Glad we won, but who can blame anyone for not going go this game?

I’m not sure what their fans are thinking...but they really did lay an egg.

We are 3-7.

Try winning and not starting games down 28-0 holes if you want people to stay in the freaking stands.

What a joke.

North Texas fans talking about our fans???? That’s f’ing rich. They’re a nothing program and they’ve always been a nothing program.

We beat them even in one of our worst seasons ever lol.

There is a fine line between supporting a terrible product (and, as such, probably telling the admin that you ACCEPT that product) and being a good fan. We certainly haven’t had a good season and, at times, it has been hard to watch this team. In general, however, we have had a pretty solid 10 years of football.

Don’t you think that a loud cheering crowd would motivate a team?? Or perhaps, don’t you think that a healthy round of boos would send a message to the coaches/players/administration??

Not attending a game is not like voting. Think about that. Plus, it really perpetuates the fact that we are a tiny, fickle bunch.

Where were the students ? I think ODU needs to do something to motivate the students to show up. if you think the stadium looks empty now wait until next year. I said it before...the game atmosphere from the opening intro to the in game announcements suck. Yesterday again we could not even hear anything. Also, tell me why it takes another player to spit on one of our players to motivate the team to play harder. Are the coaches not motivating them ? I felt bad for the team as they entered the stadium to a virtually empty student section. Honestly at the start of the game, I thought the stadium didn't look too bad considering our record and our bowl chances were eliminated last week.

You have to wonder why wasn't 2-7 wasn't bad enough.
Yes I can. Our fans are fair weather as can be. Bunch of babies. Stands were half full at best. Bush league.

Have you read this board before?

Having said that, there are a lot of great OdU fans. I cannot blame anyone fpr not sitting theough a 28-0 game when it feels likes its 30 degrees and the team is 2-7. Kudos to the ones still supporting. What a great game.

I can understand fans being upset a little about attendance and appearances, but I don't think we're unique in this area. College football attendance is dropping nation wide. I watch games on TV and see tons of empty seats at other teams games. We are not special and frankly I think we do damn good attendance wise given our record. There were a lot of fannies in seats yesterday considering all circumstances.
Our culture only rewards winners. To much tv, to many other options for fans to chose from. Plus, unless folks have not noticed, many of our fans are a little older. They are simply not going to stay all game, so get used to it. Try being thankful they show up at all! Forget what other fans watching on TV think (you don't really know this anyhow) and just enjoy yourself. You'll make yourself crazy worrying about things you have no control over.

He is good once he gets past the first defenders but struggles to get out of the backfield. He was 8 for 15 yards last night.

Vs. Middle Tenn 17 for 108 with one carry for 59 yards
Vs. WKU 27 for 125
Vs. Marshall 15 for 52

Another observation. I notice the players on most all teams have taken to dancing while lining up for kick offs, on the sidelines during the games, etc. I did not like it at first but the more I see it, the more I enjoy watching the kids having fun. I mean after all, isn't that what it should be? Last night in the 4th quarter I noticed NT's kids and ours all lined up on the side lines and they were all bouncing up and down like fresh pop corn! Man I loved the energy and excitement. What a fun game!!

You have a point about the age thing. ODU has to do something to get students more involved, as they are the 20 and 30 y/o folks of the future. Attendance couldn’t have been more than 12,000 to start and 4,000 by the end from the look on TV. That’s pretty bad, especially for FBS. Wins will bring them back. I’m hoping if there is good weather, VMI will come close to selling out since it’s the last game at FF.

And 21-99 vs FAU. And a receiving threat. Those are good numbers. Yesterday was rough for everyone but only 8 carries for him.

Pretty much normal attendance for Rice, FAU,FIU , maybe MT and WKU. We draw that during our worse season ever, cold windy night against a team that should have throttled us. I'll take that attendance in a heart beat. Honestly, and not trying to be an a-hole, but I think compared to many others, we have a great fan base.
