They are chomping at the bit for this one.
I agree. All the "pressure" is on UC; the atmosphere will be electric. We've all witnessed teams coming out too pumped and bricking shots early (some Crosstown Shootouts come to mind). That might translate to falling behind early. I expect UC to prevail but I look for a tournament type game with lots of lead changes along the way.
I'd feel better if the ball was in Gary Clark's hands early in this one but we'll see who steps up on that front line for UC.
i feel tre could almost average double figures offa offensive rebounds alone. the obvious big man answer is eli. he's already been compared to bill russell (former coach ld) and at least an nba starter (skyblade). there's no reason he can't just be like a taller hicks. one of those junkyard dogs
'member that time he stayed in the game after he got visibly concussed? can't find that video. not even sure what game it was but i feel it was somewhat important. like ville or something
ohio state's got a freshman i really wanted to go to notre dame. luther muhammad. love mike brey. he's gonna take over for coach k
how good is osu?
They return two all-conference caliber players at point and center. The rest of their team is a crap shoot. Like us, they have question marks at the forward positions, but I like our squad depth a lot better.

It's brilliant really, because in nearly any other year the pressure would be on OSU. But this year the pressure is on UC. With the opening of then ew arena, we HAVE to win this game.
No we don't. Though I would love nothing more.
Why is there pressure to win this game? For either side? We've been clamoring to play Ohio State for decades and we finally got a home and home. It's a big time game but we're certainly not strangers to this environment. This isn't Xavier or even a key conference game that has far bigger implications so just enjoy it and play our best.
It's kind of a double edge sword. Whoever wins, it provides legitimacy to the claim of being the top BB dog in the state of Ohio (although XU might have something to say about that). However, if UC does win, OSU won't play UC for another 50 years. That's the only reason they keep agreeing to play the football team, because they keep beating UC. The first time UC wins that game, they will stay away like the plague. Why do you think they changed the location of the scheduled 2nd game at Paul Brown back to C-bus? Because UC was a dropped pass away from ruining their perfect season last time they played here.

While this is a nice narrative, the real reason is that there is more money to be made by both schools if the game is played in Columbus.

Eh, I'm not buying that.
They had to have known that even way back when, when that contract was signed.
They were scared.

Technically you may be correct, but only because OSU paid UC almost a million dollars to move it:
http://www.espn.com/college-football/sto...-2-million
But this article says that UC probably would have made more if the game were at PBS:

Must win for UC. UC supporters and coaches have openly claimed osu dodged them for years. osu has always claimed they are the better program and flagship in every facet. For UC it’s time to put up or shut up. One thing to have this game on the sched and another to win it. Huge night for UC B-ball - new arena, in state opponent, fan bases who do not like each other and history between the programs. Just Win.

Not sure where this narrative was started. I have heard UC could have made more of the game was played at PBS. UC wins and the series is bought out and ended.

I respectfully disagree. That's like having little d_ick syndrome. We shouldn't be defining ourselves by what Ohio State says or does. We took two national championships from them so they can never claim that. What if we lose and then beat them at their place next year? It's a great OOC game on the schedule and would love to beat 'em but must win it isn't.

i'd much rather minnesota. seems like it'd be easy enough to arrange with mick's bbf's kid coaching. what osu does doesn't concern me. i am pretty bitter about jamar butler, but we had that coming. why did butler flip?

A win will boost our RPI and help our seeding for the tournament, but I agree, it's not a do or die.
