I'm sure most goes to the large farms and corporate farms.

When the government was dispersing monies in the past, it would base the payments on things such as acres farmed, amount of grain produced, etc.

It would make sense that the more acres you farm and the more grain you produce, the more monies you'd be eligible for. You can't just give more to people who are producing/farming less.

Similar to tax cuts, the more money you make, the more a tax cut will benefit you.

This makes sense to me. Basically it's based on "damages" the farmer incurred.

I hope the Trump administration considered these sort of impacts when they decided new tariffs were a good idea.

Tax cuts and increased spending don't normally work out in the long run.

I'm just curious. My wife is from a farming family, but it just mystifies me how the government organizes sending $4 billion in an equitable way to millions of people who have totally different investments in their farms (for some, it is their total livelihood, while for others it's just a hobby or an investment).

Haven't read the details but I imagine a good chunk of it will be handled as a price guarantee that would be across the board for all producers on commodity sold. For instance (and just pulling #'s out my ass) if the per bushel price of soybeans the day before the tariff was enacted was $8.50 for October delivery and it's now $8.25 and the full $.25 can be attributed to the tariff, then there would be $.25 per bushel allocated for soybeans. Likewise with corn, wheat, and whatever other commodity had a tariff attached to it.

I don't understand the uproar over all of this. It SHOULD be a short-term measure that will end up putting American farmers in a much better position in the future where less aid would be necessary.

The problem is most liberals do not want to pay for anything. This is a process that has to be payed for to get the benefit. Short term pain for long term goals is not in the liberals mind set.
I’m sure this will take longer than it should because the Red Chinese are hoping Trump gets run out of office by the left and more ‘favorable’ leadership takes over in the US.
Why do liberals hate America so much?

why would that matter on a percentage vs. delivery of goods impacted?

My sympathy for a multinational conglomerate that already hires a tax attorney to avoid most of their tax burden is far less than my sympathy for an actual family farm caught in the cross hairs of Trump's anti-free trade policies.
