Recruiting Stars
I know I know, stars don't mean much. Recruit the right kid for the program blah blah blah, but stars and ratings make it fun. Here's our average player rating going back a few years. Seems to be trending upwards. It could be the the ratings scales have changed, or a number of factors. It could also be that the coaching staff has improved in the recruiting category.
So far 2019 .8063
2018 .8059
2017 .7892
2016 .7825
2015 .7910
2014 .7543

I think there is definite inflation with the rating systems. It use to be 2 star was a good player, 3 was very good, 4 was great. Now the # of 3 star prospects is ridiculous. But in the era of everybody gets a trophy and the $$$
associated with the recruiting services, it's understandable.

RE: Recruiting Stars
If the ratings system has changed, it’s probably more accurate to use national class ranking to look for improvement.

RE: Recruiting Stars
The biggest reason for the ratings inflation is that services are actually evaluating more and more players. Used to be they didn't even know about many G5 commits and would just slap 2 stars on them and call it a day.

RE: Recruiting Stars
I think the biggest reason for ratings inflation is strictly related to revenue. Call me a cynic but that's how I see it.

I'd say the same. Seems like there are way more 3* kids than before. I think the amount and quality of schools offering means more than the stars anyway.

RE: Recruiting Stars
The problem with that idea is that the so called inflation has happened mostly at the low P5 and G5 level where revenue for these services is negligible. They make money at the top and the number of 4 and 5 star recruits really isn't changing much.
