Chad Beebe stats with Vikings
The box score shows Chad with 3 receptions and 1 TD. They didn't appear to use him on kick or punt returns. Looks like all these former undrafted Huskies are showing results on the field.

Can you imagine if he was ever utilized when he was with NIU. I'm going to go out on a limb and say his Dad had more to do with his success than Carey haha. Pretty bold statement eh?

RE: Chad Beebe stats with Vikings
Knew that would get your attention, MD. :-) Your comment about Don is fair enough--he may well have had an impact, and even if he did, Chad still needs to make the most of the opportunity and seems to be. Don't agree, though, with your "if he was ever utilized" comment. If I'm not mistaken, he was injured a lot during his NIU career. Had a hard time staying on the field. But when he was healthy, RC and crew used him returning punts and at receiver when he was playing. My impression was always that the coaching staff really liked Chad. Also, if the coaching staff is as bad as all that, would a former star NFL receiver have let his kid stay at NIU all four years? Probably not. Anyway, beyond that, as epasnoopy said, there are quite a few "former undrafted Huskies showing results on the field." If you're going to go hard on the coaches for their failures, in my opinion it's only fair to give the coaches props for some of the good stuff that happens as well. These players didn't spend four years at NIU and not hone their abilities under the staff that worked with them. Anyway, here's to Chad for doing NIU proud no matter whether he sticks with the Vikings! 04-cheers

This comment regarding his utilization is ridiculous. When healthy, which wasn’t often, Beebe was utilized plenty. Unfortunately, his injuries severely limited his career at NIU. Everyone gets it, you don’t like RC, but, to blame the coaching staff for his limited career in DeKalb, is nothing short of stupid.

HW58, MD is so obsessed blaming everything but the California wildfires on Carey that he missed that your original comment was directed at him.

And HuskieDave is of course spot on regarding Beebes career at NIU.

My only point was I'd guess his dad had more to do with him being with an NFL team than Carey. That's not a stretch in my opinion. To me it's common sense, but common sense doesn't always prevail here

Just thought someone of Beebes ability could have been targeted more. Injuries played a big part obviously, but essentially any offensive player will be underutilized at NIU right now. Hopefullu we can see some growth at head coaching position in that respect

RE: Chad Beebe stats with Vikings
Beebe played as a true freshman; this was a poor use of a redshirt. Ironically it ended up allowing him to have another yewr after a season ending injury. He may have been our best receiver last year were it not for injuries. He had an outstanding start to last season; leading receiver against BC (just under 100 yards) with Graham starting; had 4 receptions for just shy of 40 yards against EIU, in a little more than a quarter, before suffering an injury that kept him out for 4 games. He was Graham’s go to receiver; and he appeared to have great chemistry with Santa, but unfortunately it was I very little time together. When he went down last year, it was a huge loss. He could have made significant contributions against Nebraska and SDSU. I think his injuries were simply unfortunate. He was in incredible shape. By far our best route runner.

The broken arm was definitely flukey. One tough kid. Symbolized “The Hard Way” as much as any Huskie!

Beebe getting into an NFL camp is a miracle in itself. If he happens to make the team and contribute it will be one of the biggest football comeback stories I’ve ever witnessed with my own eyes. NIU coaches tried everything to make him the go to guy but he couldn’t stay healthy. I rooting for him. I would love it if NIU became the pipeline for ex pro ball players to send their kids to jumpstart their careers....

One of the comments under a posting of the TD video was to the effect that he was dinged up. Injury bug again.

It’ll be really cool if he makes the 53 man roster:

Would arguably be the least likely of all recent Huskies invited to pro camps to make either the 53 or practice squad rosters. Good luck to Chad.

Agreed...so many other WR's in recent years I thought would find a roster spot...wouldn't have guess Chad, but it'd be awesome to see.

I would love to see him make it too. But right now he is still a long shot to make the club. There are 12 WR and they will probably keep 6.
3 spots are gone (Theilen, Diggs, Treadwell) , so that means . 9 guys battling for 3 spots.

He is really going to have to ball out these next two preseason games, hopefully he can atleast get a practice squad spot.

The Bears should grab him for practice squad if he is cut, you know the Bears will need receivers by Week 2 or 3

Remember when we were all hoping that an undrafted free agent named PJ Flek would make the 49ers squad?

Beebe sounds like he has the makings of a good future coach. I wish him the best, and would welcome him back to a coaching position when he is ready!
