I have a very hard time imagining that any of Ohio State's trustees actively involved in a closed door meeting are leaking info to a guy who edits the "bucknuts" website and hosts a fantasy football show on local radio.
If, however, any of this is true, I have to wonder whether OSU is about to run off a very good President. Between this dog and pony show and having the wrestling and diving scandals come out of nowhere and drop in his lap, I have to wonder if someone of Drake's stature (current AAU chair) just says "screw it" and hops on the first AAU job that doesn't come with big time sports.

Completely normal to keep a two-time abuser on your staff. You and I definitly wouldn't be fired for doing the same.
Yeah, there's breaking the law vs. acting in an appropriate/ethical manner. He most likely didn't violate any laws so it comes down to internal personnel policies and personal/contractual obligations. I still question why he felt he had to publicly lie when this was first brought to his attention at the B1G Media Days. That is not a good look for him but not a fireable offense - at least not from Ohio State's BOT perspective.

My "sources" have said that its very possible Urban gets two games or less, but the Wrestling/Swimteam thing will be "bigger" than Penn State, and Gene Smith will be out of a job. I am not quite sure what "bigger" than Penn State means but they said it will cost the university a ton of money.
I thought the whole tO$U groping doctor fiasco was a while back before Smith's time as AD. How long has he been around there anyway? Also, if this is going to turn out to be a big scandal, when is Jim Jordan resigning from Congress? Sounds like he's knee deep in it and has been caught lying up a storm.
Gene Smith has been at OSU since 2005. I have likely not been following the Wrestling and Swimming and Diving cases as much as I should be, but there have been reports that the Athletic Department has been trying to suppress the issue, and trying to keep people quiet. That would be something Gene Smith would be a party to.
Quite frankly there are now 4 "scandals" to come out under Gene Smith, and after the threw Tressell under the bus, and conveniently backed that bus up over Jim's sweater vested body he likely deserves to get the boot.
How can you honestly say they threw Tressell under the bus.? The Apostle Tressell was a flat out cheater who knew of NCAA violations, lied about that knowledge on his NCAA disclosure forms and then lied again to the university when confronted about it directly.
Tressel definitely was not clean. There is an interview where Sweater Vest is about to say he reported tatoo gate to Smith. Mid answer Smith shuts it down. Many in Cow Town have said Sweater told Smith of the issues.

Cmon man. He knew he was an abuser at Florida. Never should have been brought to OSU. Then when his wife gets texts with pics of abuse pics, do you honestly believe he didn’t see them? Do you honestly believe he should just “report it”? Or should he fire him on the spot?
Meyer lied about a lot of this and that’s what I have the biggest problem with. Maybe I’m just intolerant of blatant liars in this day and age.

If any of you watched the full presser video, Meyer looks uncomfortable as hell (and he should be) and everything he says is very rehearsed. I think his explanations are minimal and leave more questions than answers. He doesn't come across as contrite or sorry. I thought it was very telling near the end when a reporter asked him about what would he say to Courtney Smith and he looked like a turd was stuck under his nose. At the end of the day, it's on the BOT and they chose a very minimal penalty IMO. Not surprising in the least. The media is going to rip Thee Ohio State University over this. Yes, this will go away eventually but there is a big stain on Urb's white shirt that began at Florida. I shouldn't care but it would be justice in some sense if the Bucks lose 2 of 3 games while Urb sits the bench...

He's a football coach. Keeping d-bags on staff oftentimes comes with the territory. That's the real "answer" to all the questions you may have.
The punishments levied are about what I expected (although I figured Smith would have “retired”).
The biggest issue I have are the explanations given, especially the notion Meyer’s memory/judgement is clouded due to the medication he is taking— say what? There’s no way Meyer could run a football factory like Ohio State as successfully as has been if he is prone to memory losses. These coaches are some of the most detail-oriented individuals on the planet, they micro-manage every aspect of their program - yet every time scandal breaks out they try to convince the world they have no idea what is going on in front of their faces.
