RE: Former Mizzou AD Mike Alden to advise UMKC athletics
Each coach has his strength and weakness. Below is my opinion of best to worst in certain factors. I am premature with CBU's Rick Croy but this is in part perception projecting forward based off his D2 success.
Defensive Scheme
1. Chris Jans
2. Rod Barnes
3. Dan Majerle
4. Kareem Richardson
5. Tracey Dildy
6. Mark Pope
7. Jim Hayford
8. Rick Croy
9. Lew Hill
Offensive Scheme
1. Jim Hayford
2. Dan Majerle
3. Chris Jans
4. Mark Pope
5. Rick Croy
6. Lew Hill
7. Kareem Richardson
8. Tracey Dildy
9. Rod Barnes
Recruiting
1. Chris Jans
2. Jim Hayford
3. Chris Barnes
4. Dan Majerle
5. Mark Pope
6. Lew Hill
7. Kareem Richardson
8. Rick Croy
9. Tracey Dildy
Toughness transferred to his players
1. Chris Jans
2. Rod Barnes
3. Dan Majerle
4. Jim Hayford
5. Rick Croy
6. Kareem Richardson
7. Mark Pope
8. Tracey Dildy
9. Lew Hill

I guess "Clutch, Grab, and Hold" is technically a defensive scheme for Barnes, huh? Haha

You can't point out anything about GCU even if its a fact or gleady will cry it's about hatred so other idiot fans will come to his rescue. Facts hurt when it comes to GCU. Some delusional GCU fans like to beat their chest about their record but that OCC strength of schedule speaks for itself. I would have liked to have seen what GCUs record was with UMKCs strength of schedule the last 3 years. I'm sure they would have beat William Jewel. After all, you beat William Jessup at home. That was impressive how you guys were tied with them up until about 4 minutes left in the game.... at home. You making fun of UMKC fans making ridiculous claims is the pot calling the kettle black.
If UMKC ever wants to do something it's all about money and I'm not sure they have the resources to get it going. I think Richardson has shown spurts that he can be a good coach but UMKC needs money, period.
Don't hurt yourself flexing those keyboard muscles.
Did it make you feel tough laughing and making fun of UMKC fans?

I’ve always thought that GCU players have been soft for the most part. Besides Kerwin Smith and Keonta we didn’t have any real “tough guys”

Barnes defensive styles relies on the refs swallowing their whistles. His teams play so aggressive that refs tend to overlooks a lot physicality in order to keep the flow of game moving. Otherwise, the game would turn into a free-throw shooting contest for the opposing team and drag on possession by possession. CSUB's defensive style is ugly but effective. However, offensively, Barnes teams are even more so undisciplined. Barnes needs to have skilled shooters because he runs a simple unimaginative offense with a propensity for bad shot selections.

The toughest GCU Lopes I've seen since Majerle took over are Killian Larson, Keonte Vernon, Grandy Glaze, and DeWayne Russell in no particular order. I think Alessandro Lever will turn out to be tough minded as well. But he needs to become more board dominant.

He didn't quite have the numbers, but I'd put Blake Davis on a GCU Tough Guy list, too.

Josh Braun was tough as nails as a freshman. But injuries took the edge off his game. He had a less than stellar senior season. I think Braun defined the character of GCU's teams. Now that he is gone, it will be interesting to see who will step up and become the DNA of the Lopes team. And, will he makes the Lopes tougher?

It's so funny you say that, because I literally typed and deleted "Can we add freshman year Joshua Braun to the list, too?" from my previous post. We won't see them on the floor in 2018-19, but I have seen quotes that lead me to believe Carlos Johnson and Isiah Brown will actually be strong leaders who demonstrate and demand toughness.

If they only get 94k in ticket revenue would they be better off making games free to attend? At least for nosebleed seats.
They'd lose a lot of the 94k, but would get more people to games, increase fan support, and make more in concession amd merch sales.

With Johnson and Brown sitting out this season, GCU has a shallow bench for 2018-19 comparatively to other years; with only 11 available players. Is there any chance the bench grows (walk-ons or signees) between now and the start of the fall semester?
