if done right it can be a huge for the local economy. soccer fields and lacrosse fields bring thousands of visitors to town for weekend events. they fill the hotels and restaurants for the weekend. many of the tournaments require three night stays. Indianapolis area has huge investment in amateur sports facilities and it has been very good for the city and surrounding area

I think it is hard for people who haven't had kids who play youth travel sports to understand how big some of these events are and how much revenue they produce.

There is a huge youth volleyball tournament in St. Louis every President's Day weekend. It probably generates as much revenue for the city as the SEC basketball tournament did this past March.

yep. and you can have several per year.

It sounds like the proposed building would be able to host basketball, volleyball, cheer & dance, wrestling, etc. Apparently, these cheer & dance tournaments are HUGE.

only problem I see is lack of hotels nearby

And why would people come here for cheer & dance tournaments when they can go to Orlando instead?

Maybe Varsity being located here might be beneficial.

I'd love a simple new Libertyland, and, expand later.

Libertyland may be nostalgic, but it was a bush league second rate amusement park.

What a large wast of money this would be.

Same thing some said about rebuilding Overton Square and the Sears Crosstown project. We all know how well those turned out.

For the record, I thought Sears Crosstown project was good, i don't see the value/upside in a sports complex.

Tiger Lane needs to be tripled into a T shaped complex with green space for kids with activities. They are our future fans.
