stAte makes Phil Steele's Top 25 Prediction

I'm thinking 8 wins right now until I see other evidence.

I call the balls and strikes as I see them as always. No change there.

If any G5 school goes 11-1 they’ll be ranked, pretty good analysis by Phil.

RE: stAte makes Phil Steele's Top 25 Prediction
The same stAte that needed a miracle 4th and 16 in 2016 to beat us (after starting 0-4) and gave up nearly 500 yards of offense to us in 2017 (at the worst defensive ypp average of all SBC teams that beat us), while giving up 10 turnovers in 2 combined games to TYSON SUMMERS coached teams?
That same stAte team is going to be #25?

If an SBC team were to go 11-1, I agree they would have potential to be ranked.

RE: stAte makes Phil Steele's Top 25 Prediction
I think Ark State can crack the top 25 if they run the ball better (not just from using passing to set up the run) and play better defense.
Speaking of defense, I'm looking forward to hosting the Red Wolves again this year. They gave up a total of 858 yards to Tyson Summers' 2 offenses.
Going to be interesting to see how they do against offensive coaches that know what they're doing.

Not many coaches get the honor of going 0-2 against Blake Anderson.

Two Points: You were beaten in spite of those issues and it was 2016. Thats the one.

This is what I love about stAte fans. If there's blood in the water they swarm like sharks at a seafront butcher shop.

That can at least be argued, haha. It wouldn't surprise me if you guys won it all. That said, Anderson's teams simply don't have that killer instinct in OOC. Outside of the SBC, they never seem like a truly dominant team. He also has Hansen rated higher than Tua Tagovailoa. I have incredible doubts that Hansen will be the best QB on the field when you play Alabama.
Ding ding ding. stAte fans are usually calling for Anderson's head by the end of the OCC run and then love him again after conference. Red Wolves are very good but still waiting for that complete season.

He's got about 40% who know he's not good and 60% who love him regardless.

stAte has to win their OOC games to get ranked. Not just a couple but at minimum 3 of them. And probably give Alabama a good game...Don’t see it
We got ranked 2 years ago because we won 3 of our OOC games and gave national champion Clemson everything it could handle.

RE: stAte makes Phil Steele's Top 25 Prediction
An 11-1 Arkansas State team would be ranked.
But there are plenty of landmines before everyone starts celebrating.
They'll be favored in three OOC games, but that doesn't mean they'll win.
Beating App, even in Jonesboro, isn't a given.
Georgia Southern is very much an unknown and the game is in Statesboro.
ULM at home in the finale could be interesting if the Warhawks learn to play some defense during the season.
And, Arkansas State will come to Lafayette as a double digit favorite, which will mean nothing since they've won at Cajun Field exactly one time since 1992.
