These hunts pay people and support families. These hunts keep poacher numbers down (by funding enforcement and by giving potential poachers legitimate work). These hunts control population.

All these things - and more - have been stated all along as this debate has grown. I personally think these stories have more to do with gotcha points for anti-hunters than anything regarding compassion. If there were true compassion the concepts you listed above wouldn't need defending.

Having said all that, as an avid hunter myself, I would never attend such a hunt but neither would I want to deny anyone else the opportunity.

But the only animals I'd eat if I wasn't starving would be those that eat plants. I'd say this woman should have used better judgment. If the giraffe was a rare specimen he shouldn't have been killed especially since it would be no fun killing one versus killing a lion or an animal that could kill you in return.

Pigs are omnivores. Fish eat other fish.

True. Pigs will eat people under the right circumstances.

For some hogs the right circumstance is a dead body being thrown into their pen. More than one body has been "disappeared" by Russian boars. The only thing that might remain are the fillings in their teeth.

They sure do....

throw a little fish out on a hook, you reel in a lager fish. Throw a larger fish out on a hook, you come in with even a bigger fish.

I've caught 200 pound fish that swallowed a 5 pound jack, whole. I've caught 50 pound fish that turned into 25 pounds before I go him to the boat.

Sorry, I don't believe this fish story, unless of course there are pictures. 03-razz

Yeah, I remember a story a couple of years ago about a farmer being eaten by his hogs. They suspect he had a heart attack and died in the pen, but they weren't certain of that.

i knew a guy that killed a south american monkey when he was coon hunting. had to get a zoologist to identify it. his favorite coon dog was a full sized poodle.

you cant make this shite up

Standard poodles can be vicious. I heard a story years ago that when we first started exploring K9 units for police work that the standard poodle was rejected because it would go for the throat almost every time it tried to apprehend a bad guy.

I'm not sure they're good eating.

They are very slow to digest...
