Didn’t see those at the start of the season. Think they were added because the floor markings are so small. You are correct. I hate them so very much.

I attended my first game at the arena today. While the pictures and videos look great, there is no substitute for being there in person. JMU has many wonderful buildings on campus but this one might be the crown jewel. I can not wait until I experience a game with the place full of folks dressed in purple.

Shows well on TV too.

Agree. I have no doubt I will be amazed in person, but the arena shows incredibly well on TV. The first time I was a bit in disbelief. This is really OUR arena and it looks like a big time arena.
This will come as no surprise, but JMU has outdone itself once again with incredible facilities. IMO this was the last real huge piece that needed to be filled and it was filled in a big way. We have no weakness when it comes to facilities. We are only getting stronger.

as mentioned before.....I really do think they are going to have to do something to accent the end lines. I remember an old JMU art class on architecture. First, does the space do what it was intended to do. Functionality. Too many guys stepping out of bounds because it looks like a big blur underneath the hoop.

Funny you mention this. I said the same to Charlie yesterday. The out of bounds lines and charge circles should be white or gold and not black. The black blends with the purple.

The college court should be widened too now that the three point line has been extended. There isn’t enough room in the corners to take threes. Players step out too often there.

I had to go back and look for some pics of the floor. Noticed that it was a white endline on the preliminary renditions and then ended up switching to black in the final design. It does look great, but too many people lacking awareness underneath. It needs to pop more...white or gold like you said.

Some may have complained about the Convo but look at Idaho with an absolute abomination of a court.

They have a new stadium that is planned for completion Fall of 2021.

This is a bit misleading as they normally play in the Kibbe Dome and they convert for basketball. My guess is that this year with no fans not worth the conversion particularly with new arena next year.

New arena only 4200 seats. Very small for a D1 school.

Their 16k stadium was the smallest in FBS during their stay there. Not a lot of interest in the potato heads.

Stopped by JMU yesterday for the first time since Feb 28 2020 to pick up my fan cutouts from the AUBC. The nice woman who was helping me let me take a quick peek inside the arena. The place is beautiful. Looking at it on TV does not do it justice. Can not wait to actually be able to sit in some seats and watch a game there next season.

Go Dukes!

really nice...I snuck in with a friend, a uva grad and basketball season tix holder, he said, "this place is as nice as JPJ!...then added, "wasted on JMU in the CAA" He said the second part to piss me off but the truth hurts.

Are we going to waste it?...and BFS...and Sentara Park...and Eagle Field...and a great fan base?

Globetrotters coming to town Thursday

That's apropos since MBB is basically the Washington Generals. (not really, but it's such a good setup.)

For anyone coming into town for the Globetrotters game, Brothers Brewery is doing their Proud and True Celebration today. For $6.50 you get a 16 ounce pour of Proud and True and get to keep the glass. I do not work for them or for JMU....just want to pass this news on to folks who may have not heard about this and are beer drinkers.

I can't see the words "Harlem Globetrotters" without whistling Sweet Georgia Brown in my head. Like a pavlovian dog - it is automatic. Every time. Without fail.
