It helped that they had the relationship with the Elon staff, so it wasn't a cold call. Nice little pipeline I hope we keep flowing, great kids/players there.
those two GC kids seemed to be the cream of the recruiting crop. good to see they are still committed.
Hero Sports, if I'm not mistaken, had them 1 and 2 among all FCS recruits, with I believe the linebacker rated more highly of the two (contrary to Dukester's opinion).
Time will tell.
This tandem reminds me of highly rated Tutt & Jordan Brooks (I believe both had multiple stars) from high school. I saw them both play multiple times at Centreville. Tutts looked great, and Brooks was just another player. Brooks never played much and is gone from the team. While Tutt started games last year and will likely be the starter this year, he's lost multiple seasons due to injuries.
Saw both of these GC players play twice. Each time Green was far superior to Ayamel. I thought Green looked better than some of the other FBS players on the team. They played great competition and head FBS players are them, so saying Ayamel did not standout does not mean a lot. But in my mind, from what I say Green is the man and would potentially be our best high school recruit since Lezotte. The next signing period can't come soon enough.
Time will tell.....

Green is a lock. He was on campus with all the other committed players (including Palmer) last weekend. Ayamel is really the only one that I think is on the fence.

His tweet says he's visiting his top 3. I assume that includes JMU. Do we know who the other 2 are? I have to believe ECU is one of them.

Expect ECU (duh, Houston keeping his "word) to be the main culprit. Also expect him sign with ECU....always have since Houston was in his house right after taking the job.
Hope he stays with us, but this situation always felt weird after the tweet/deletion of said tweet.

I'm not going to fault the kid or Houston if he goes to ECU. He had an offer from ECU before Houston's arrival. Now that ECU has had a coaching upgrade, it's reasonable for D'Abreu to reconsider that ECU offer. I'd do the same thing if I were in his position (although, I'd still pick JMU!)

What I find most crazy is that Houston offered D'Abreu an ECU scholarship back in May of last year while he was still the coach at JMU!!!!! WHAT A TRAITOR!

Won’t fault the kid but Houston should have never said he wouldn’t poach JMU recruits. He lied and therefore deserved fault for being full of **** (again).

Yeah, it's almost like he's being "coached" from a PR perspective on how flip to ECU with as little collateral damage to him and Houston as possible.

As far as I’m concerned, that’s a flip. Houston is a liar. I don’t care what you say.

Man some of you are really bitter people.
The kid was offered by ECU prior to Houston ever going there and in the end decided to go there for whatever reason. Not one other commit seemed to be targeted by ECU and that tells me something.

RE: 2019 FB Recruiting
We offered Asheville, NC DE/TE Marvin Pearson. I’m guessing this is in response to our coaches realizing D’Abreu is likely to flip on his verbal commitment.
Pearson has no FBS offers but has one of the more impressive collection of FCS offers you’ll ever find.
Offers include:
CAA: Elon, Villanova, New Hamsphire.
Other FCS: Kennesaw State, Wofford, ETSU, NC A&T, NCCU, The Citadel, Western Carolina and Austin Peay.

In my opinion, this has nothing to do with being bitter. I agree that we certainly have that in many instances, but I don't think it fits here.
Here's why:
-He committed to JMU
-Houston said he wouldn't go after any of our players.
-A tweet after Houston left JMU with D'Abreu and Houston/staff together at his home
Houston was able to get D'Abreu to JMU. If Houston hadn't said a word about taking JMU players it I think it would be a lot different. The fact is ECU offered before Houston got there and he didn't choose ECU.. he chose JMU. "For whatever reason" seems pretty obvious at this point why he suddenly changed his mind.
The truth is that Houston went against what he said he would do. I don't fault the player for wanting to go with Houston. I fault Houston for going against his word on the record.

What if the kid said, "I'm interested in you and your staff, more than/not JMU. Would you have a scholarship for me at ECU"?
If Houston thought he wasn't going to JMU without him being there, should he recruit him for ECU?
I choose to say thank you for the great 3 years, and give him the benefit of the doubt.
It is what it is. Houston and JMU are both in WAY a better place than we were 3 years ago.
Do you honestly believe if Houston was going after our players he would not have a least a handful by now?

How do you know that he didn't go after a few already? He may have talked to them and they may have turned his offer down. Then again D'Abreu may have been the only one.
Aside from that, you do make good points. Some players do go to a place for the coaches more than the school itself. Your point made me think of another. It's not impossible to consider D'Abreu could have stayed at JMU and disliked the new staff and transferred shortly after.
I do think Houston did a disservice to himself by making that comment in the first place. Now that D'Abreu is coming with him, it doesn't look great for him even if he wasn't the one to initiate the contact. Had he not said anything, I don't think many (myself included) would have said anything about it other than that's what coaches do.
