Hopefully this eliminates Pitt from the Hurley sweepstakes.

I got to think the coach at Rhode Island is a no brainer for UCONN.

That's my vote, too.

I think they also should interview Buffalo's coach.

Pitt should probably pause their coaching search.

My guess is Louisville will be attempting a home run hire. If so, it will create a ripple effect through out college basketball as schools scramble to replace their successful coach.

Who in their right mind would want to take over a program with a history of ethics issues and will quite possibly be facing severe NCAA sanctions in the near future. That job is career suicide right now.

Not true...still a very attractive ACC job.

Could be. If successful, the next coach would be honored as the one who weathered the storm and brought Louisville back. I'm sure with Louisville the school's taken a hit financially from donors, etc., so a great hire might be the ticket to "put it behind them" and move on.

On the downside--everything mentioned in this thread. Not sure a successful coach at a successful program would take the risk. Maybe a retired coach could be brought back, or a really outstanding mid-major guy.

Kentucky following the cash fiasco of Eddie Sutton, went and got them an up and comer from Providence, maybe they can find someone of that caliber

If Marshall is offered and he turns it down, then WSU has a coach with the temperament of Mark Few.

Padgett is actually the kind of guy that would work at a place like Tulane (but we're not looking ATM). He'd have the time to build something, and if he really wants to he can always re-enter the ACC later.

Padgett to ECU?

Hmm. I've actually heard of a lot worse on this forum. I'll give that a C+.

I think he would be in the same boat as a Ryan Odom but an even smaller sample size. How would he be recruiting, especially at a place like ECU that doesn't have the resources of a Louisville (he has a few years exp as an assistant at IUPUI but that's it). For that reason alone I would probably put Odom over him since Odom has experience coaching at places with limited resources (UNCC, Lenoir Rhyne, UMBC). Now that being said we can certainly do worse than Padgett but he would probably be 4th or 5th on my list.
