RE: Whoops, they did it again...
Last I checked our Ken Pom was still in the 160s, and we haven't beaten a team in contention for the NIT, much less the NCAA....but by all means let's celebrate a win over a Tulane squad once again missing it's starting PG. I'm psyched.

I honestly think we are a big time 3 point shooter away from having a good squad. Vanover will be a bit of a shot blocker inside and might be able to open it up with his shot........Thornton, Davenport, Brewton, Jerimiah make for a good nucleus next year....give us a deadly 3 point shooter to go with them (sorry Jamal).

I'm glad we won, and I still want Tubby gone.

we currently have 16 wins and a 7-7 AAC record...looking at the schedule we still have USF and ECU at home plus, I know the guys want some revenge against ECU.

I could see Memphis at 18 wins, 9-9 in AAC play going into the American tourney.

Memphis @ UConn will be a war.

Actually we could end up with 19 wins because UConn isn’t that good.

Beating Houston would show me something.

I'm just trying to not get my hopes up lol

my ideal scenario is we win our final three in a row. @UConn, USF, and ECU to finish the season 19-12/10-8 AAC. Upset 1 team in the AAC tourney for our 20th win and sneak into the NIT. We get a good match-up and Tubby coaches us to an NIT victory for 21 wins on the season.

He had taken a group of kids who never played together, hidden many of their defects (see the zone) and made them competitive. I think we can beat any team in the AAC except UC and WSU. We are not at the level yet, but if he plays a better schedule next year which helps our RPI we could be in the conversation for a bid to either the NCAA or NIT. Recruiting is still a concern but he is coaching them up.
Let's win the rest of our games and a couple in the tourney.

Progress baby.

Recruiting is not a "concern"

Recruiting is settled. He refuses to do it. He's going to roll with whatever scraps are left after real coaches get the real players who he is too damn lazy to put in the work to try to get.

And then when his scraps don't win enough, he will blame their effort and lack of execution. And then he will blame you as a fan for not showing up in big enough numbers to cheer on his scraps.

We’re long past the prime recruiting season for next year and all we have is a 2, 3, 4 year project. Pick your number.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your view of things. It looks as if Orlando may have saved his job. Going into final 6 things did not look good for his remaining. However we caught a break by playing short handed teams back to back. Allowing Tigers to eek out road wins. Given that we have only one competitive game left against Houston. And maybe a toss up game @UConn it looks as if Orlando may finally be able to finish above .500 in conference. As the final two home game are all but gimme games. Anything more than a 1-3 finish and it will guarantee Orlando will be back for next season.

GTG!

Tubby hasn't attempted to sell anything in the two years he's been here. He doesn't recruit, he doesn't market the program, and he doesn't honestly believe in the Memphis program (i.e. "This isn't the Memphis of ten years ago").

The last few wins are encouraging. And if Tubby's history tells us anything, it's that he does a good job of getting under-recruited players to win ~2/3 of their games. I anticipate this is the road that we'll continue to go down.

Let's not miss an opportunity to criticize the coach...........SMH. Even in a win celebration thread.

I celebrate every win (there is no such thing as an “ugly” victory). Howver, beating Tulane is the expected result for a Tiger coach unless one is willing to lower the bar just for Tubby.

Still passive-aggressive in your criticism of the coach, does it ever get old for you? Maybe UH should fire their coach too.

Tulane was favored in yesterday's game. Teams don't win or lose based upon some opinion of historical results but instead based upon the teams on the floor.

The fact that Tulane is EVER favored over Memphis should be eye popping.
