Quit it.
I think that there will be staff changes, either because Rob sees the need or because it is forced on him after the way the last couple of seasons have wound up. We need an older, hard nosed defensive coach on the bench, someone who puts the fear of god and the coaches into the team, someone who demands respect and gets it.
I know a bunch of y'all are going to howl, but anyone who knows me knows that I'm about as far from a bammer as a UAB fan can get... but the Houston Rockets cut T. R. Dunn loose in 2016, and so far as I know he's not coaching anywhere. He's exactly the sort of hire I'm talking about. I doubt that it would be him for any number of reasons, but he's the sort of defensive/bench coach we desperately need to hire. I think that he could also teach Coach Ehsan a lot of fine points. He's got a ton of experience to tap into.
I'll hang up and listen.
T.R. Dunn graduated from West End HS in 1973 (the year after Ray Watts), went to Bama for college and then had a long career as player (Denver Nuggets) then coach in the NBA and WNBA. His strength was always his defensive capabilities, and that is what kept him employed as a player and coach for so long in the NBA. As the saying goes, he has forgotten more than most ever learn about basketball. UAB would be wise to consider hiring him onto the BB staff because he knows defensive ball play. As many basketball star players as B'ham has produced, I don't of any besides Dunn who have made a lifelong career in that sport.

* Ramp up the off season conditioning program. (See Mike Anderson era conditioning)
* Call James Green or someone like him to add to the bench and clean up the defense. Green's teams will punch you in the mouth. Could always throw Marsh a lifeline and get him out of A&M.
* Play one true money game a year and schedule no one under a consistent 250 ever again. (Sometimes tourneys force you to play one like this season) One DII is ok instead of a sub 300 team. Never more than one.
* Stop looking at only regional teams for H&Hs. Pull a Gene Bartow and lets get some home and homes out west. WCC, Horizon, WAC, etc.
We won't even get into marketing or lack there of.
If I had my druthers I would play fastest 40s style up tempo balls to the wall. We can recruit Burger King All Americans to play that style all day long and wear people out but I don't think he would do that. This roster is suited for that style IMHO and the next game I coach won't be my first.
I could say more but about to travel........ ;-)
This. Gotta get a veteran assistant to help. Also no FN D2 teams for regular season games. Play Texas on the road instead so I can go.

Ok great. So we all know he's going to be our coach for the next to years.
Is that supposed to stop us from pointing out the obvious that he's not doing a good job, the team is underperfmorning, and the program is in a bad place?

It's a message board. People are going to express their opinion, and their dissatisfaction. Every basketball thread winding up with three or four posts calling for Ehsan's head is still counterproductive as hell.

True. But it's crazy when people act like there's nothing wrong. I've been a fan since the early 2000s and this is definitely the lowest point of the program I've seen.

2002 - the team was 8-8 at one point - finished 13-17.
2007 - the team was +3 games over .500 once and promptly lost the next two games. They finished 15-16.
2012 - the team was 7-13 going into February. Finished well though at 15-16
2013 - the team was 9-13 going into February.
But according to you, the current record of 15-10 is worse that any of that.
Troll on.

Love your argument. Hey, calm down. We've sucked for years. Accept it. Embrace it. Be a real fan. Actually it's a very valid point. Sucked is not the right word. Irrelevant is. Might actually be worse. It's not a recent thing either. It won't change until we make a real commitment to basketball again.

RE: Honest Basketball Assesment
Ehsan is a placeholder while UAB devotes resources to football. Would be great if he worked out but it isn't looking good. He'll get his chance to pull it together but as soon as the last football pledge (from the major donors) is paid in full the clock starts ticking. That's just an opinion but UAB can't have 3000 in the stands for very long. Four years tops but I suspect it will be three if we keep playing poorly at home. There is no excuse for losing back to back home games to UTSA and North Texas.

& it will be up to the football program and it's success to get us into another league down the road so that the basketball games & opponents are visibly important enough for large crowds to attend again.

He thinks that 13-10 against a horrible D1 schedule is something to hang his hat on.
I'll say it again. In terms of our schedule, conference, record, attendance and support, and just overall irrelevance, all relative to the talent and experience level we have, this is the lowest point the program has been at in 15 years.
But if you're happy with being 13-10 in a really poor schedule, by all means, keep your head in the sand.
And the reason less people come to games and participate in the game threads inst bc people are realistic and call out the program and coaches, its bc we are just simply not good. Many people don't care any more. 10 people leaving the board bc people are realistic and call out the program hasn't led to 2,000 people in the stands. It's the overall crappy state of the program.

the coach is performing under expectation
he is learning when being at UAB
He will get 4 years and if he is bad he will be fired and if he is good he will be leaving for a bigger program
that is uab basketball

& it appears that Ehsan's path will be dependent upon the success of the incoming group instead of those seniors & juniors on this year's team.
There will be a dramatic shift next season when Cokley & Lee are gone.
Either Ehsan takes the team up some notches or else he will ride out his 2 to 3 remaining seasons.

No one comes to games anymore bc a few people complain on a message board? More clueless than Alicia Silverstone. Maybe the fact we're underperforming and the program stinks right now has something to do with it? Being a fan doesn't mean you have to walk around with blinders on all the time.

If he falls flat on his face again next year, there should be no choice but to let him go.

RE: Honest Basketball Assesment
I haven't been on much lately so I was curious about all the negativity. I went back a week, starting February 3rd. Including that day there have been 59 threads, only 11 concerning men's basketball. Out of the 11 mens basketball posts, 5 have been discussions that contained some griping and arguing.
Couple things stick out to me after my quick review. One, this board is mainly about football, even in heart of basketball season. Our merchandise sales aren't up because of hoops, that's for sure. UAB is a football school. Duh. Second, the negativity on BlazerTalk is exaggerated. I scrolled through the two game threads, two losses, and I didn't see one person call for Ehsan to be fired. Not one thread has been started bashing the team or the coach. I can't speak about Facebook or Twitter but the negativity on BlazerTalk is very mild. A lot of fans were more passionate about playing Savannah State on a Thursday night than losing two straight at home to average teams. There isn't enough interest in UAB basketball to create a flood of negativity, more like a trickle. It's February and 11 threads about men's basketball in 7 days! The most interesting things to read about Blazer hoops are MB's Almanac posts.
