Couple things stick out to me after my quick review. One, this board is mainly about football, even in heart of basketball season. Our merchandise sales aren't up because of hoops, that's for sure. UAB is a football school. Duh. Second, the negativity on BlazerTalk is exaggerated. I scrolled through the two game threads, two losses, and I didn't see one person call for Ehsan to be fired. Not one thread has been started bashing the team or the coach. I can't speak about Facebook or Twitter but the negativity on BlazerTalk is very mild. A lot of fans were more passionate about playing Savannah State on a Thursday night than losing two straight at home to average teams. There isn't enough interest in UAB basketball to create a flood of negativity, more like a trickle. It's February and 11 threads about men's basketball in 7 days! The most interesting things to read about Blazer hoops are MB's Almanac posts.
Facts are not allowed in this conversation. You must be opinionated. You must be slanted and anyone who disagrees with you is a homer, wearing blinders, troll, negative Nancy, idiot, bammer fan, unrealistic... etc.

Seriously, I’m a numbers guy, and i love when people bring statistics to the table.

There will be a dramatic shift next season when Cokley & Lee are gone.
Either Ehsan takes the team up some notches or else he will ride out his 2 to 3 remaining seasons.

Agree but i dont see any turn around next year but i will LOVE to be wrong

If he falls flat on his face again next year, there should be no choice but to let him go.

When the opening first became available, i had that same mindset; Look for the best coach. I wanted to give Ingram the chance to make a statement hire. I’ll admit, midway through the process, my mind changed because “people in the know” convinced me that 1/2 the team would leave if Ehsan wasn’t the coach. Also, it was stated he was the coach that Clark wanted... So, I ignorantly joined the Ehsan or Bust movement. I joined in on here and Twitter, so i will admit... I’m partly to blame, but never again.

So now Rob is clueless and and our AD and fans are stupid ?

Please address your email with complaints to Mark Ingram, Director of Athletics.

And again, did you see the list of candidates that were known to be interviewed ?

Scarbinsky was pimping Chuck Person like they went to grammar school together. Where would we be with that one now ?

Steve Lavin was interviewed. His recruiting tactics are twice as bad as Mike Davis' were. But hey, we'd have a "name" guy that used to coach at UCLA. That's where the good similarities to CGB end.

Also known to be interviewed was NBA veteran Jason Terry. Terry is very recent in the NBA game and he might have brought a fresh look to our game. Who knows how he'd be.

Rumored to have been interviewed was Rick Stansbury - This let all of us know that ADMI was considering coaches without a care about their background.

3 of the 5 known candidates have/had a dubious history. I'd rather UaB be clean and lose than cheat and win.

Our best player and big key to our success has had 4 knee surgeries in 4 years. Other players are not performing as we'd hoped. We're short at least one big man in the rotation, and our super freshman hit the wall about 3 weeks ago.

I have hopes that our guys can turn it around and get us a decent seed in the CUSA. If we can get hot from 3 and defend a little better that we have lately, who knows.

And we have an awesome looking class coming in.

How are Lisa, Bart, and Maggie doing?

Will you be bragging tonight about us beating a bottom dweller and touting our 4 games above .500 record against D1 competition in a horrible schedule?

The negativity is overly exaggerated. some people are overly sensitive, as well as clueless. We have a reason to be negative and angry. If people are mad at posters for telling the truth, then they are too sensitive.

im one that reads less and posts WAY less. ive also pointed out the negativity.
to me, that doesnt mean that people are being negative about the team, the program, the direction. if somebody has that opinion (and wants to express it), thats fine.
to me, its more about the fac that every thread turns into a middle school argument.

since you posted this on this page, i decided to just go back and read this page (of about 25 posts)

post 57--dumb comment. seems to have misread. it happens
58--true. couldve just said "i think you misread"
59--name calling
63--good statement at the end, but i originally quit at "facts are not allowed"
68--more name calling
71--you're blind (back and forth bickering)
72--the useless argument rolls on
74--and back
75--and forth
76--and back

thread started as an "Honest Basketball Assessment" with many good points. i could see how one would disagree with some of the points. but its impossible around here to disagree and then just move on.
it all disentigrates into 6th grade.

on this page alone, almost half of the posts are useless to me. so at this point, if i felt i had something to add, i probably wouldn't, bc the thread has been destroyed.

thats just my opinion (feel free to disagree).

i think when many people (or at least its the case for me) complain about the negativity, they aren't talking about people bashing the team, or the coach, or the program. its more about people bickering with each other over differences in opinion.

Just curious, Blazer Phil....

We were picked 2nd in our league, and we're currently 7th and trending downward, obviously underachieving by anyone's standards. We don't really have a decent win, and our best game may end up being our close loss to Auburn on the road. We have been embarrassed by two pretty mediocre teams at home in the thick of conference season.

What would it take for you to be disappointed in or frustrated by this team?

I suspect he is frustrated and disappointed, but chooses not to splatter it all over social media.

I asked him something like that. He chose not to answer. I guess because it was "negative".

My candidate was Steve Forbes who is at ETSU (check out his record)...he had been at winning programs both high and mid major...when you are through making apologies for Ehsan go back and check out what I said at the time of Ehsan's hire...Forbes would have been a great catch and everything I (and others) predicted about Ehsan HAS COME TRUE

I heard very little if anything about Forbes back then and he had a SHOW CAUSE from lying to the NCAA. That will cause many ADs to choose someone without a former show cause. Because its basically betting your job he won't get in trouble again.

In hindsight, we probably should have went in a different direction but there were no clear obvious better choices at the time that I saw. Slick Rick cheats and everyone knows it except WKU fans who are in denial. The NBA guy has never been a coach. Laven wouldn't have worked for what we would pay.

There were no clear better choices at the time.

I speculated but did not know that the MTSU coach might have been interested because at the time, MTSU was not showing him much love.

I was not sure how I would feel about that at the time. But he has continued his winning so he would probably have been a good choice.

What happened to Forbes was the equivalent of a blown out of proportion parking violation...he was released with the rest of the UT assistants...after making the Juco championship finals (twice) Gregg Marshall and Wichita State sure jumped at the chance to hire him

Yup everybody is an expert in retrospect.

All the coaches were interviewed by the NCAA and they all LIED. They colluded to lie. Lying to the NCAA is a huge no-no and all coaches know that very well. (I know it and I'm not a coach)

And the parking violation was just what they could prove.
