See? Here's one.

Yes. Just like that great liberal Richard Nixon dreamed of.

The government paying someone for simply breathing via the national treasury is not the American way. Taking more of people's hard earned money is not the American way. It's socialism and you wear it well comrade.

F@ck You! No its not. Replacing the current system with a UBI is a much more effective way to abolishing poverty. No only that. But studies have shown that it would actually grown the economy over all.

What would you set the UBI at? $10,000 annually? $20,000? More?

Let's say $20,000.

If every person gets an additional $20,000 you realize prices will rise accordingly, right?

If you make $100,000 annually from your job and I only make $50,000 then giving us each an additional $20,000 doesn't make my pay equal to yours. You're still 50 grand ahead of me.

As prices rise, we're simply moving the poverty bar up. The poverty level is relative.

Where does the $20,000 given to everyone come from? Are we zapping all $$$ out of the welfare system?

If everyone received a UBI does that mean everyone would start paying taxes?

UBI is ridiculous. The concept ignores one glaringly obvious issue: Human Nature.

If I refuse to work today why would I be motivated to work if the government gave me money?

And if I refuse to work why should society reward my behavior?

I have no problem helping those that can't or are working to help themselves, but I should not have to help those that won't.

And help does not mean raise them to some mythical lack of poverty...not possible.

ahhhh, the centrist stance which I wholly endear....

to the points made by a few above, that's how one can commandeer wanting those to work it back to the smallest percentage....

unfortunately, today's dippos now refuse to recognize that concept.....

Yup, I am extremely conservative socially, but a centrist when it comes to many fiscal issues.

I don't fit in any particular party.

UMBG and others nailed it. Human Nature.

There is a % of the population that will live on whatever the government doles out so long as they can remain on their couch or porch and don't have to do any work to get it.

Government policy and programs should encourage the behavior one wants........passing out "money for nothin'" doesn't encourage that % to do anything other than wait for the check...

Ding. Ding. Ding.

The tax code and ability to pick winners and losers is where the power (and money) that flows into congressional pockets is derived. No way they willingly give that up.

the key that too many on left continue to whiff is how to reduce the incentive that promotes that ideology....

at the macro level it's numero uno.....if one doesn't understand that, I simply hand dem a shovel to dig to the mark twain, and hand dem another 40 oz. olde english.....

in no way will I ever support socialist economic policy as an incentive....

Me either. Socialist economic policy also ignores human nature........that's why it ALWAYS fails. Amazing those socialist clowns never realize that - or maybe that's just their angle to be "more equal pigs".....

Check that......... those with half of a brain can see it but I don't know how that will play out.

I thought you were against tax cuts for the rich and over taxing the poor and middle class?

Giddy up!

it really is the damnedest shite I've ever witnessed during my lifetime....

I easily understand N+1......however, it wasn't supposed to happen until ~'50....it's why I begged for a daughter as my only......and I'll carry that guilt in conception to the worms.....

in no way do i want to have to pay attention to all this horseshite.....unfortunately, it's what us genX'rs inherited......

I already knew the boomers/tech/meds/costs fk'd us in numbers.....

what I didn't see happening was how quickly the knowledge base would devolve over the last two decades in return.....I underestimated the impact of wealth division and why it was by design.....

we now have two gens (in massive numbers) of economic retards that are dependent on the working class as their sponge....

it's gotten to the point where I can only laugh at the young 'uns feces as they whine and pine.....

that sucks in scope....and the rest are finally waking the **** up to reality and how the engine is going to be fueled moving forward.....

so to all the dems, I simply say, "how 'bout dem rotten NY/cali/NJ/IL/MI apples motherfokkers"
