Taxing Consumption
In the next twenty years I believe more and more income is going to be able to be hidden. With the cryptocurrencies. Income taxes are going to go the way of the dodo bird. It's obvious that that is the way it should be done. We live in such dysfunctional times though. We ALL can see it............... Check that......... those with half of a brain can see it but I don't know how that will play out.

Hey I've been screaming that for years. But the main barrier is that the government loses the ability to buy favors and engineer behavior.

I don't think he got his DNC talking points clear today. That or he is advocating a uber regressive tax plan.

Oh I'm sure he's like the others who propose this increase in theft in that he also supports paying people from the national treasury just for breathing via an assured income.

Fine with it. As long as we do away with Income tax and the IRS. Also would like to see a UBI and do away with the Welfare state. And feel free to trim a couple hundred billion from the Military.

I voted for Herman Cain during the GOP primary a few years back.

The government paying someone for simply breathing via the national treasury is not the American way. Taking more of people's hard earned money is not the American way. It's socialism and you wear it well comrade.

I hope you realize that this is the method of taxation that is supported by the most by libertarian/conservative economists out there - with the elimination of the income tax.

F@ck You! No its not. Replacing the current system with a UBI is a much more effective way to abolishing poverty. No only that. But studies have shown that it would actually grown the economy over all.

Giving away free money to people has been shown to never be the way to grow the economy. Its the way to create perpetual couch potatoes.

The last time poverty was positively impacted was when we implemented welfare reform. We are seeing that again now with work requirements being installed back into the system.

You want to know when you touched a nerve? The mindless go personal.

Replacing the current capitalistic system to where private citizens are given a paycheck by the government for nothing other than breathing via monies that the government stole from producers is the very definition of socialism.

It's bad enough that I already have so much of my hard earned money stolen from me to provide to the multi-generational parasite class now you want to take more. The only difference is instead of bleeding me every damn paycheck you want to bleed me with every damn financial transaction I make.

Abolish poverty? Seriously, not possible.

I have no problem helping those that can't or are working to help themselves, but I should not have to help those that won't.

And help does not mean raise them to some mythical lack of poverty...not possible.

ahhhh, the centrist stance which I wholly endear....

to the points made by a few above, that's how one can commandeer wanting those to work it back to the smallest percentage....

unfortunately, today's dippos now refuse to recognize that concept.....

Yup, I am extremely conservative socially, but a centrist when it comes to many fiscal issues.

I don't fit in any particular party.
