RE: Weber State vs JMU
I believe Kennesaw State is going to humiliate SHSU in front of their delusional fans and it's going to be glorious. NDSU should take care of Wofford with no problems. I would be very concerned about KSU if I were them.
As for us, we are just getting the opportunity to prove ourselves against the toughest teams. I don't see that as a bad thing at all. If we had a cupcake run through the playoffs, I'd be concerned when we actually faced good competition. NDSU isn't going to know what hit them if they make it to Frisco against us.

Their conference is majorally overrated besides them and New Hamshire. If we play our best game and take a few chances at the right time, we will be in the game. Stoney Brook would have been in the game, if they didn’t shoot themselves in the foot. I’m a believer in this team. I’m not sure we’re going to win but there is no reason to feel like an underdog. If we play our best, we will win!

This. Is. Hilarious.

Not all are that bad, and most are good posts, but man...this person is great. JMU has won 24 straight, soundly beat NDSU in Fargo last season, have by far the best D in the country, are the defending NC...and still get called "soft primadonnas". The last time a Big Sky team won the NC is 2010 (which was the first time since 2001). Other than EW winning in 2010, the last team not in our 'majorally overrated' conference (JMU twice, UD once, Richmond once, Villanova once), named App St (3x), or named North Dakota St (5x) to win a NC was 2002.

But please remind me about your powerhouse program that has never won a quarterfinal game... 07-coffee3

That is the sign of a fan that follows nothing but their team. He's in for a rude awakening this Friday... just like any other opposing fan that thought they were scoring more than 14 against us.
Call us soft, and prepare to be shocked when we bash their heads in.

RE: Weber State vs JMU
Weber has a good defense so I expect this one to be relatively low scoring. They'll be aggressive and make Schor scramble a lot. Hopefully he plays it smart and gets rid of it quickly. But our defense is nasty and will hold them in check.

JMU - 23
Weber State - 10

we'll likely have to beat all 3 of those to repeat

I think SDSU could be as good as, if not better, than NDSU. Obviously better on offense, not as good on defense.

1st half of the season lost @ YSU in Sept and lost to UNI at home by 20 back in mid Oct. Apparently that game was a wind/rain fest. SDSU turned the ball over 3X in their own territory 1st half leading to UNI scores.

2nd half of the season: Won 6 straight. Beat NDSU by 12 at home..Just beat UNI by 15 in their rematch.

Looked at NFLDraft Scout the TE Goedert is rated as the #2 TE, projected 2nd-3rd round. The WR Wienke is projected as a 3rd-4th Rd.

Beating a dead horse here, but hindsight they should have been the #3 seed. Maybe the only other team besides JMU with a good shot at beating NDSU in the dome..

The only result that wouldn’t be a stunning surprise would be Kennesaw knocking off Soft Houston.

I’d be shocked at any of the other upsets..

there is and never was a threat on their side of the bracket.

they were given a gift of a draw.

Another way to look at that is we are going to be battle-hardened when we get to Frisco. After such a slow dance to the NC, the Bufflers are going to be a shell-shocked bunch when they get a load of the Dukes.

I'm predicting the same thing. Kennesaw is going to pound the Softies into their own turf.

Kennesaw lost their first game of the season by five points to Samford, 28-23, in a bad weather game. They haven't lost since, whipping Samford in a revenge match Thanksgiving weekend 28-17. They also beat Liberty 42-28 and sent another pretender home Saturday (Jax State).

Our game starts at 7, the Softie/Kennesaw game at 8:30.

I dont see how we can possibly expect to even be competitive in this game. They are much better than us in every facet of the game. I mean, even if we happen to luck it past them, we won't stand a chance against SDSU. They're SUPER good. And even if we get by SDSU in some unexplainable manner, we won't have a snowballs chance in he!! against NDSU. I dont even believe we'll be able to get flights to Dallas in January anyhow, let alone any other form of travel. We should just quit now.

Watched the game last night, and both teams looked slow.

Always interesting when teams from the across the country get together. TBH, i was more worried about Soft Houston last year. I wasn’t all that impressed with what I saw last night.

My take away from watching that game has how much smaller Weber's lineman were...both offensive and defensive. We should have the advantage in the trenches.

You need to get your eyes checked. Weber’s listed lines (esp their DL) are bigger than JMU.

Weber listed starting OL avg is 6’4”+/302 (compared to about 6’3 1/2”/300 for JMU).
LT 6’4”/295
LG 6’4”/300
OC 6’3”/295
RG 6’4”/300
RT 6’6”/320

Weber 2 deep DL (starters bolded). Starters listed avg is about 6’4”/287 (Compared to about 6’3 1/2”/257 for JMU).

LE 6’5”/270
— 6’6”/265
— 6’3”/260

DT 6’4”/295
— 6’2”/275

DT 6’1”/295
— 6’1”/305

RE 6’3”/250
— 6’1”/245
https://weberstatesports.com/services/do...n_Utah.pdf

Bigger does not always = better on football lines. Athleticism and execution are much more important. Jacksonville State was bigger than Kennesaw State but Kennesaw State is very athletic and we know how that game ended up. The Dukes D line has elite athleticism.
Agreed. I was just responding to the false notion that Weber's lineman were smaller on both sides of the ball. Maybe watching online distorts the perception of sizes. Or on Sat night alcohol does..

I also thought that they looked smaller when I watched the game but I guess not. I was commenting more for the Weber State fans that have been monitoring our board and took offense on their message board about us saying their linemen were small. I think both o-lines are comparable but our D line is head and shoulders above theirs from a skill aspect.

So we've been talking about the offensive playbook and I was just thinking...have we seen any trick plays this year?

Last year it wasn't a big part of the offensive playbook, but I remember the one reverse pass play against UNH. We also haven't seen much out of the wildcat this year, maybe we see some "Duke Dog" formation this weekend to get the ball in our RBs hands a bit quicker?

I don't know that I'd label it as a "trick play" but we did run a reverse this past Saturday versus SBU. First I recall of the entire season so maybe for us it is a trick play.
