Weber State vs JMU - mad_dog97 - 12-03-2017 08:48 AM

It's going to be cold, it's going to be dark, and there may be some snow in the air. Everyone order your extra long johns early this week.

This will be an exciting game. Weber's offense looked slow, as plays were developing.

RE: Weber State vs JMU - Duke Dawg - 12-03-2017 09:27 AM

I can’t believe people think stony is better than Weber.

I’ve watched Weber last two weeks.

Their qb is small, but is a playmaker and an older qb (senior who went on a mission), who mostly makes good decisions.

And there defense looks pretty good.

This game will be more challenging than stony. I think we’ll still win, becasuse, well, we are awesome. But we need to find a run game somehow and not turn the ball over. It helps Weber has to fly across country on short week and we had a chance to watch them play last night while they had to prep for southern Utah while our game was going on. Every little extra bit of prep for our coaches helps, as we saw with that brilliant first drive yesterday.

If we can just be us, we move on to the semis.

6'2" 220 is small? Schor is 6'2" 211.

No way he is 6’2

I believe the 220 though. He had some chunky to him, but is pretty nimble.

He’s far better than stonys below average qb, which is why this game will be more challenging.

Agreed that he's far better than SBU"s qb. He can't sling it like Lauletta, but he made some very smart decisions and made some good plays to extend drives. Our defense will have its hands full but I have no doubt they will be up to the challenge. For all the complaining that will ensue about a Friday night game, I'm not upset at all that Weber State will have a short week and cross country travel all the while trying to figure out how to move the ball on us. Advantage Dukes!

Their QB is 25.

Watched the game last night, and both teams looked slow.

Always interesting when teams from the across the country get together. TBH, i was more worried about Soft Houston last year. I wasn’t all that impressed with what I saw last night.

Weber St. will be sound and disciplined. Their Defense will be good, solid linebackers and some talent in the secondary (senior bowl invites). Their offense is steady and methodical. Honestly I find them to have numerous similarities with us.

We had Weber St. at home in 2009 back when we had a quality team, and I recall they had quite a few older players then. I think due to CLDS activities and missions that delayed college progress.

Those teams are not used to physical play, and if your "D" knocks the QB around a bit, you will see their offense crumble, and any sharpness/execution that once existed wilt away......

I don't think JMU will have the Oh baby its cold outside advantage like did last year over those Texas kids. I imagine being in northern Utah the Weber kids would be more used to the cold (and snow if any) than the JMU kids..

Weber is 8-9 points better in Sagarin Predictors and this is not accounting for the fact that Stony Brooks best playmaking WR (best guy by far) wasn't able to play yesterday.

JMU was a 19/20 point favorite yesterday.

You'll be about a 12-13 point favorite Friday.

Weber is significantly better than the Stony team you played but still is very winnable game. Upsets happen of course (ask Withers).

Go New Hampshire.....SDST is the elephant in the room....that will be a good game (if it happens).

LMAO - Sagarin said we were “only” 7 points better than SHSU last year too, so extrapolating, we win by around 80 this year? 04-cheers

Watching the replay of Weber State vs SUU now. Not really sure what to take away from this game if anything. Neither team looks to be particularly good on defense I suppose.

RE: Weber State vs JMU - DBJMU2006 - 12-03-2017 02:18 PM

Today I learned that Weber State is in Utah.

Weber State does have one heck of a view at their stadium, I’ll give them that.

RE: Weber State vs JMU - formerjmusprinter84 - 12-03-2017 02:48 PM

One of Weber State's DB's had a pretty bad looking inside ankle sprain in the 4th Qtr and could be out. Another DB was injured earlier in the game but not sure if he returned.

Vegas line was slightly higher. In retrospect you were better than your rating but also a super finesse passing team in fridgid cold was probably not a great situation for them !

We had Wofford, Villanova and Montana at home in 2009, losing to Montana by 8 after Landers went out. I don't think we've ever played Weber State at home.

RE: Weber State vs JMU - 91Alum - 12-03-2017 03:44 PM

The Versus simulator has us winning 23-14. That sounds about right to me, I think.
