RE: NFL costing Papa John's money
I apologize for being late to this thread, but... I find "Papa's" complaint entertaining.
Look. Take some responsibility.
1. Many of you have already discussed the average to bad product. Their pizza taste really plain these days.
2. He tied himself to the NFL. Learn how to spread advertisement out a little more. Maybe sponsor another sport. It's rare to ever see a PJ commercial not related to the NFL. Peyton's retirement was probably worse for his business than the current protests, honestly.

Don't know if someone else has pointed this out yet or not but I did see where both Papa John's and Pizza Hut had a 1 percent gain in revenue in the third quarter. The difference was PJ was projecting a higher revenue growth than that and PH was projecting a loss in growth. So maybe the solution is PJ needs to lower their expectations a bit. And maybe that's what all this publicity is about to begin with.

That's possible. That's the first thing said against his comments that makes the least bit of sense.
Most of it has just made the posters look stupid, thinking they know more about his business than he does, with nothing to base it on other than they support the protests.
But more likely, he has been expanding more than Pizza Hut and has better fundamentals in his stores.

Are you asking that question ironically?
It's telling that you're not actually providing an example and instead just making another single sentence comment without any substance.
Just following your lead there, sport. Maybe if you spent less time b*tching and moaning about what you read and actually contribute something other than hyperbole, hypocrisy and snarkiness, you wouldn't be getting put on blast constantly.
You reached that conclusion also I see. It took about 4 threads to see through this person. Anyone who feels it necessary to comment on every statement made in every thread is suffering from attention deficit disorder of a different kind.

To be fair, all of the "fast food" pizzas are crap. It's not just PJs.
Pizza Social in Bartlett off Kirby-Whitten is made to order as you watch so it's pretty fast , and outstanding. Off topic a bit I know...

Pretty sure I provided a source earlier in the thread, and I haven't seen a single source provided which shows it's even among the larger factors influencing viewership. Im not saying it's impossible, just saying it's silly for so many people to think they know just cause.
Can you provide a source that said DOnald Trump was going to in the election? No? Maybe that describes the inherent problem with your "sources".
Jesus, just how intellectually lazy can you get?
One could ask stupid rhetorical or assinine questions as 90 % of their posts. That's lazier. Know anyone like that?
I've recently been informally introduced to someone just like that. And he/she wonders why I don't bother responding with anything of substance. Go figure.

Thx. I'll check it out.
I see they're across from Five Guys and open til 9. That's an hour later than Papa Murphy's. That will definitely come in handy.

I agree. But the others aren't blaming people taking a knee.
Yeah, but the others are the official NFL pizza subjected to boycotts.
They were making money of crappy pizza before this went down.
They're a pretty big outfit. They probably know whether or not their NFL affiliation is impacting their sales.
Of course they do. They’ve done surveys, customer response, all kinds of crap, no doubt in the millions in market research to find out WTH is going in.
Especially before the founder and CEO comes out publicly and criticizes his biggest single advertising investment and the colossus that is the multi-billion dollar enterprise the NFL.
Anyone that thinks this was a “notion” or hunch and the guy ripped the NFL and Gooddell based on that and nothing to back up the claim is a moron.
But, for a few, that’s already been pretty well established...

He's not new here. He was here regularly a couple of years back and then buggered off for...reasons. What annoys me about him now is he complains about the tone and posts here nowadays and how that was the reason for his hiatus. Yet he's still posting in a place he absolutely hates.

Haven't you gone almost entire threads going "who cares" before? Loads and loads of substance comes from you around here. Bullsh*t, horsesh*t, chickensh*t, dogsh*t. Loads and loads of substance.
I can count the number of times I've said who cares here on one hand. As for the rest of your post, not once have I ever complained about the tenor of this board. Not once have I complained about the lack of genuine rational well-thought out discussions here. So it's clear you're just making sh*t up about me because I see through your "I just like to argue the other side" bullcrap.

Since we're talking about pizza, my family and I are going to visit Chicago a day when we're at my wife's family in Southern Illinois this Thanksgiving. Any suggestions on a great place to go for deep dish pizza?

(11-01-2017 02:01 PM)bullet Wrote: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21250...m-protests
Executives from Papa John's, the official pizza company of the NFL, expressed disappointment on a conference call Wednesday about the league's ongoing player protests during the national anthem.
"The NFL has hurt us," company founder and CEO John Schnatter said. "We are disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve this."
Executives said the company has pulled much of its NFL television advertising and that the NFL has responded by giving the company additional future spots.
"Leadership starts at the top, and this is an example of poor leadership," Schnatter said, noting he thought the issue had been "nipped in the bud" a year and a half ago.
Caught this on Undisputed/First Take the day it broke so to speak.
FWIW, I loves me some Papa Johns... that Garlic Butter mmmmmmmmmm
Anywho, it would be tough to say that enraged fans about the whole anthem thing haven't been contacting sponsors to protest them supporting the NFL when players aren't standing for the anthem. You can actually call one of the beer sponsors corporate hq and find a phone tree option for NFL protests.
But how significant a impact that this has on Papa Johns to me seems like a stretch.

Not sure where the local tv angle was trying to go but yeah, FOX and CBS do local games but say here in NC, We get Panthers games on FOX because of Charlotte --we aren't getting EVERY GAME and in some cases aren't getting 4pm games even if there are some carried by either FOX or CBS. It all depends on what FOX and CBS want to make national games or local games--either way when the Panthers play, they are on FOX for their game.
So, in other words, while yeah the Falcons and the Redskins are FOX NFC teams if the Panthers are playing they are the game shown on FOX over others. The other games would be what CBS has on at the same time and then what they want to offer as a national/regional game at 4pm. A lot of times they don't each have 1pm and 4pm games here on tv. TNF, SNF, and MNF are all national games.
