G4/BYU chose a bad time to suck
byu, c-usa , sunbelt and the MWC all have deals that are about to go into negotiations and they are all trending down and fast
c-usa should already be in negotiations...they need a new deal by next season...but somehow got in a worse negotiation position than they were 2 years ago..weekday games are the only way i can see them making ANY money
byu is having arguably its worst season in arguably 30years and they go into negotiations...i have a hard time seeing them getting any kind of raise, i could even see them getting a reduction (currently making 4-4.5mil)..they start negotiation in 2018
the mwc outside of sdsu is losing a ton of traction badly..boise the cash cow isnt what it used to be..their basketball powers (sdsu, unlv, unm) are all down and they are a 1 bid league for mulitple years now ..playing late night is their only selling point...it hards to imagine them getting over 2mil per .. they start negotiation in 2018

Should we add BYU, San Diego State, Boise St, and Air Force to the AAC? Colorado St perhaps?

AAC is clearly in the best shape. As more ncaa games goes to the conference channels, ESPN has to land the AAC. C-USA is a flat out mess. They need disband and get 8 to stay together and maybe grab Arkansas State from the sunbelt and JMU from fcs.
The mwc is I'm a timezone nightmare. Only 2 football programs worth a nickel.

No.
Sign byu and army to a similar deal notre dame has with the acc. Boost everyones tv money, share bowl slots.
7-10 million a team is what we are looking at right now. Add those two in and its closer to 10-11 million.

I was thinking the same thing. Army and BYU want independence but do have some type of value. A poor man's version of ND relationship with ACC and Big East before.
Team up for bowl tie in negotiations and maybe say 2-3 games per year in Non- Conference AAC games and both sides would gain value I would think.

Also will add. The Big 12 is looking at a good chance at being left out of the playoffs for the 3rd time in 4 seasons with OU losing the other day.
Now their hopes are on TCU with undefeated SEC, Big 10, ACC, and Pac-12 schools ahead of them. If one of the AAC schools can end up, undefeated....it would make the AAC value look that much better.

I again advocate for byu and army for 4 games. Byu 3 in the west and 1 vs east. Army 3 vs east 1 vs west. Keep travel down, develop some rivalries, still good variety by rotating through the opposite division.
Add vcu and dayton for olympic sports to tighten up the east geography and build a monster bball conference. The extra ncaa credits would easily be worth it. Every school would have a well matched travelling partner. 1

I would love to get that so we can buy out our Chancellor, AD, and both football and basketball coach.

Add em all except San Diego. Because fanhood.
Whether BYU has a down year or not, whatever their ratings are will determine how much they get. The two are related, yes, but how much the ratings have dropped will be the key.
As far as Cusa goes, I don't even know how you determine ratings since almost all their games are streamed or on some sort of pay platform like Cusa-TV. Not sure they have the strength to muscle out the MAC for televised midweek games so I have no idea what happens to them.

Interesting idea.
Which bowl is BYU tied to?
BYU's current issue, I suspect, is that hiring a position coach from Oregon State eventually catches up with you.

This is actually the most intelligent solution I have seen. The Army/Navy game should be wrapped into negotiations, or did they already extend the current rights? That game is a cash-cow.

BYU has a "faithful" following. They bring eyeballs to TV and butts in seats. They will make the same amount.

Since we would own both entities tv rights would default to the conference regairdless of the deal. It would simply work like a tier system.

Depends on the Mormon. By the way, Leach is Mormon, inactive in the church, but Mormon none-the-less.

BYU is a no brainer
i would think Air Force as well for Armed Forces tie-in. Same for Army but they have not been very good in many years where AF and Navy have been.
CSU has a fancy new stadium and is geo rival for BYU
Boise has been a success
SDSU is good now but i see your point.
16 teams or do we send someone packing?
East:
UCONN
ECU
Navy
UCF
USF
Tulane
Temple
Cincinnati
West:
BYU
Colorado State or Boise State
San Diego State
Air Force
SMU
Memphis
Houston
Tulsa

The MWC schools would kill to be in this conference, but would BYU have any interest?
