A thought about how our beloved athletic director could help us raise money
Start a pool on how many days after Watts hits the door, the money folks invite him to leave.

Whose side are you on? Do you honestly think he's done any good for this university?

There are many who say that much of the progress made under his watch has come in spite of him. I believe he has an acute lack of historical perspective for our unique situation.
I have met him a few times and feel he wants our programs to succeed but that he feels some limitations placed upon him. From where, I cannot say but only speculate.

He seems to be doing a great job. The beach volleyball and cheer coach hires seem to be good ones, and he managed to navigate the football shutdown and rebirth situation well, in my opinion, given that he likely had very little power over how that would be handled. It seems to me some folks just don't like him because of who hired him.

I wish that were true.

RE: A thought about how our beloved athletic director could help us raise money
Well, MB, the reality is that going over the line has its costs. I know a respected poster here who was very outspoken about Watts during the shutdown. He does not live close to Birmingham anymore. When the season ticket appointments were given out, he called in to get his seasons and was told that if he did not come to Bartow in person he would have to go to the end of the line. Since I know of any number of people who ordered tickets by phone without any problem, I find that curious.
There are a number of people on who have ties within the administration or the athletic department and get the inside poop from people who know what went on, but if they reveal their sources in public it might cost someone their job, or a bad review the next time they are up for a raise. There are people who post on this board who have had seats at the table when Ingram was there as well, and know what was said and done and how the decisions were made.
Believe it or not, sometimes people have reasonable, logical reasons for their dislike of Ingram other than that Watts hired him. All that getting into details would do is poison the well for the source involved.

This is exactly it. Without actual evidence of Ingram doing a poor job, this is all just a bunch of rumors on a message board. I can't put any stock into that and won't change my opinion of the man based solely on conjecture.

RE: A thought about how our beloved athletic director could help us raise money
Most on this board assume all of our troubles were with Watts and certain BOT members only. The SOM and the research docs are also opposed at least to the extent of making sure the money for athletics stays capped especially in an era of less research grants.
IMHO the SOM intends to make sure another toadee (not a Carol) is the president. Thus Ingram would feel little pressure and expect any eventual replacement to be of like mind and perhaps worse

So you chose not to read or comprehend what Band Dad said. Thanks.
