Bumping this as it’s almost May and Chicago St hasn’t hired a Men’s basketball HC, doesn’t appear to be looking for a coach and has lost many/most of its players/assistant coaches.
Will Chicago St have a team in 2018/19?
I ranted about it on the WAC board, but Tracy Dildy could coach. He had Chicago St in the
top half of the WAC until the bottom fell out for the school’s finances and he was forced to recruit via Skype and then doubledip with AD duties (probably the only MBB coach of 351 doing so?).
Despite all that, he still came within a whisker of beating Northwestern (their best team ever which went to NCAA Round 2) and Illinois the past few years.
No one bleed Cougar Green more than Tracy Dildy. He’s a South Side legend who was performing HC/AD double duties in an impossible situation at something like ~$130k. Had a 3* coming in from Simeon and a high regarded JC recruit. Zero chance Chicago St could do better than Dildy.
Then they fire him because of social-political backstabbing within the staff/school.
1 month later: top player signed with an agent, Simeon 3* recruit bailed, JC recruit bailed. No coach or AD hired.
Whoever made that decision might’ve killed the program.

Is it possible that wasn't unintentional? By all accounts, sports seems to be one of the few things holding body and soul together at Chicago St. And they fired the women's coach at the same time, both without a formal announcement.
Could this be someone's idea of putting a dying patient out of his misery?
