Trump going after Freedom Caucus
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 3 hours ago

"Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!"

Guess he realizes blaming the Democrats isn't exactly the right response when you have a majority in Congress.

Trump is appealing to moderates, the same way he won. I hope all the radical nutjobs on both sides get thrown out.

Freedom kochcus just neutered themselves.

Trump could appeal to the Sanders crowd with the trade and healthcare issues. Right now, you have Sanders crowd Vs. Schumer/Clinton crowd.

No he should let obamacare continue its death spiral and allow the Freedom caucus types to get replaced

Moderates elected Trump and they are pissed. Don't for one second believe this is some kind of love for obamacare.

It's no longer obamacare to me. It's freedomkochcuscare.

More cumbersome to say but reflects reality

RE: Trump going after Freedom Caucus
Its an interesting strategy. Basically, he's moving on----leaving the Freedom Caucus/Heritage etc to explain to their voters why they still have OC and are still funding Planned Parenthood. I think the strategy may work. I think what Trump is doing is walking way from both Ryan Care AND Obama Care. If the Republican majority wants to do something, they will have to come together, craft a bill that both sides support---and then bring it to the president with the votes. Otherwise---the president is done with it until it Obamacare collapses and enough Dems are willing to work on it to ensure success. He's not going to go to battle again with a fractured party that cant shoot straight.

Agree. This sits solely on the GOP obstructionists in 2018. If they can't repeal it before then they are going to answer for it at the polls.

I agree. He was right to call for the vote and say either pass it or I'm moving on. Leave it up to the FC guys to explain to their constituents how keeping Obamacare was the better option. They are not getting everything they want, so it's either stand on principle or make a deal but either way for Trump it's better to walk away and let them take the blame for it.

He's not directly blaming Paul Ryan, because that might hurt him with his own party, but he's washing his hands of it and waiting for the GOP to do something about it, if that involves removing Paul Ryan, he's fine with it.

I still think he greatly underestimated the actual support out there for the current law, so he's doing whatever he can to get out of the way and let the chips fall where they may, confident of his own belief that the original plan will fail.

Trump has no qualms about criticizing anyone. You should have realized that by now.04-cheers

If Trump didn't like the outcome, maybe he should have put actual effort into the policy itself. Because his own top aides were telling the media he "either didn't know, didn't care, or both" regarding the policy behind the bill.

When has he shown to really care too much about the details of any policy? For better or worse he doesn't get bogged down in the specifics of anything and just worries about getting what he wants done by whatever means necessary. That's not always a bad thing, but in a decision like this which really is about life and death for people that might not work.

So you are telling me the man who didn't know how complicated health care was, after he made all the promises about how fast he would fix it for a fraction of the cost, did not know any details about his supposed fix? Are the blind leading the blind over there? Pathetic.
