RE: Bryan Schor
Coming into the season, he was my #1 concern. I'm happy to say that he has exceeded my expectations by FAR. I wish I could say as much about the defense where I expected a lot of improvement but Schor has been terrific. And, I think he's getting better. My only real complaint with him earlier in the year is he was very inaccurate on the deep ball but he's hit some the last few games. Doesn't hurt when you have a guy like Alls (who has also far exceeded expectations) snagging balls out of the air.

Probably won't happen this year. Tech's QB is having a strong season and if they win their ACC division (which seems likely at this point) I have to believe he'll be the odds on favorite.

It would be a tough one this year - the QB at VT is having a pretty great year and I would imagine that the voters would lean towards the I-A QB over the I-AA QB

"Almost Famous"

McShay: Bryan Schor, QB, James Madison

I railed on James Madison when my Richmond Spiders ruined their hosting of College Gameday last year, so it's only fair to recognize the Dukes for a great effort Saturday. Schor, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior, completed 78.6 percent of his throws for three TDs and zero picks against Richmond. He also rushed for 92 yards and another score.

I know Virginia blows but if Micah Kiser doesn't win the Dudley, then voters aren't paying attention.

McShay is a closet Duke.

Seriously, click it. It's a real thing. Also, is it just me, or does it look like he suited up for Penn State vs. Ohio State in one of those pictures?

Those are his High School Colors...Delaware Valley HS of Milford PA (my HS Alma Mater also) their colors are Black and white with some red trim.

With the way he is playing, do you think he has a shot at the next level? I think if he continues on this path he has a very good shot.

I would think he has a shot especially if he wins the Payton award but he's sort of a system qb in my eyes. He runs it well here but it may not translate at the NFL level.

NFL would be an extraordinary long shot. he's a great college QB, though, and the fact that we get him for next year is just awesome. smooth transition to Cole Johnson in 2018.

He has some NFL qualities:
- NFL Size (avg QB is 6'2, 215, roughly same as Bryan)
- NFL Mobility (plenty mobile for next level)
- NFL Accuracy (at least on short & mid-range balls)

But he's got some HUGE question marks too, namely:
- Mechanics (throwing motion / quick delivery)
- Arm Strength
- Deep ball accuracy

I'm sure a guy like DeFilippo would would be able to give us an idea on those question marks, but we armchair QBs can only speculate.

No. He doesn't have the arm.

No shame in that. JMU has had a # of great I-AA QBs who weren't NFL material: Rascati, Landers, Lee..Schor will be added to that list..

Don't forget Cawley and Erik Williams. There have been many good ones through the years.

Cawley was drafted so he had more than a shot. He actually made it, in that sense.

The Q wasn't going to make it as a QB. He was a tremendous athlete, though. If he had played RB or WR he might have actually gotten some looks.

Schor's arm strength isn't weak, but probably not where it needs to be to catch an NFL scout's eye.

Nobody's saying that Schor has a cannon. But there are plenty of NFL back-ups who also don't have cannons for arms. Look at Matt Cassel & Ryan Fitzpatrick. Those are guys with Bryan Schor type games and are known for not having what it takes to throw and NFL quality deep ball. Sometimes you can get by on the intangibles.

I'm definitely not in the camp that he's an NFL guy at this time. But if he finishes this year out strong and uses his senior season to grow his game, maybe he gets an invite to a NFL camp. It's a long-shot, but not out of the question yet.
