Quote:HATTIESBURG, Mississippi – In a huge surprise to everyone in Los Angeles, Hollywood actor Bill Murray reveals in a new interview that he is moving to the Hattiesburg, Mississippi area. He tells the magazine that he is “tired of the L.A. lifestyle” and is looking for a big change in life.
“I’m just tired of the L.A. lifestyle and I feel like, at this point in my life, I’d rather just live in a place full of real, genuine people. I’ve been to Hattiesburg, Mississippi a couple of times over the years and the people there are real… they’re genuine, and yeah every community has its problems but the people there are good, decent people and they care about their community. Those are the things I find most important in deciding where to live,” Murray told the magazine.
“I’m not retiring, I’m just looking for a change in life and I think I’ve found that in Hattiesburg,” Murray reassured fans.
first tiger, then ozzy (who is still just up the road at the 'sex clinic'), now ol' bill....hell, ol' Brett and Bus still live here.....
the 'burg....she just won't let go...
seriously, it's cool when you remain where your roots are....so many do not have that option....and that's my overall point....urbanization in this country will only increase under dem rules

That's a fake article.
Bill Murray actually spends most of his down time these days in Charleston where he spends time playing golf, is part owner of the Charleston Riverdogs , the Yankees A-ball affiliate, photobombing engagement photos
One of my cousins was a waitress while attending College of Charleston and Murray was a regular at her restaurant. She said he is a down to earth man who was a pleasure to serve and was a huge tipper.
I love living downtown. So many friends are within walking distance. I always have someone to eat or grab a beer with. I have great trails to run/walk/bike. Multiple gyms and pools access at all of the nearby buildings. There is a Publix downstairs that I shop at daily. Restaurants, bars, clubs, farmer's market. I don't even have to use my car on the weekend. I would love to have more space but I would just accumulate more stuff that I don't need. I have everything that I need right now. I'm happy, way better than when I had a house in the 'burbs.

there is a vid about the making of caddyshack....it's a must watch....
I've never lived in a downtown, and there's no way I would in Detroit. Especially now with a family. I know there's been some movement back downtown, spearheaded by some hipsters. But it's just a couple relatively safe square miles around the sports venues and Fox Theater, and that's it. Detroit would be last on my list for downtown-living.
If I was forced to move, Chicago, LA, NYC, Dallas, Atlanta, etc., would be too overwhelming for me. I'd want to downsize in population. I'd rather do a more mid-level city like Grand Rapids or Columbus OH.
I like trails and open green spaces, so the 'burbs fits me well. But I get the allure of a downtown. But again, a small-ish downtown.

nailed it....I'm in the aves (which is close to our "downtown") and built a house out before the divorce as the 'burg moved west....it's a simple equation of "matter"
that's the crux....
white flight is hardly anything new....
this is where the libs really drop the ball when it comes to their liberalism stance,,,,,they lie when the shite hits their fan....

That's kind of where I am. Where I live used to be the downtown area of a small "town" within Warwick County before Newport News annexed the county. So, while I live in the city of Newport News, my neighborhood is town-like. I call it "suburbanish". I have a single-family house, about 2,000 sqft, a decent sized yard... large enough where my kids have plenty of room to play and there is a reasonable amount of privacy, but I am a couple minute walk from the "village" that has a couple of restaurant/bars, a few useful stores, the largest private park in the country (includes a 5 mile cross country trail), and my son's school, which is on the water (built in 1918). I am also just 4 miles with no traffic problems to Newport News's "downtown", where I work. We have it pretty good. The two drawbacks are (1) that once my kids are in middle school, it isn't a neighborhood school and we will most likely be going private and (2) my house was built in 1940 so I am constantly dealing with problems. Love the location, but frankly would love for a tornado to come through so I could build a better house.

I hear that KC has a nice downtown. Mid-level downtowns are nice in the right area.

KC is about as clean as visiting germany....well done!
Studies like this are absurd. There is nothing wrong with enjoying the city, the burbs or the sticks. The question is one of quality of life. If urban living was less expensive then I think you would see the results flipped.
