Since when does Texas give the "mentally challenged" a teaching certificate?

There it is again. The personal attack. You guys are so classy.
Well, in my defense I could've used a stronger word than mentally challenged.
Some people get all caught up in the ideology and hate the person rather than the politics. I get it.

Some people are too thinned skinned and need to learn how to take a joke. BTW, I knew that was a typo. Just trying to have a little fun.......

I wasn't talking about the typo. That doesn't bother me.
I was talking about the personal attack which also doesn't bother me but it's supposedly a bannable offense.

It's just a message board so don't think anything here personally. Doing so makes it a more enjoyable forum to visit. Anyway, there's always the "ignore" function if you get upset easily. As is usually the case, always easier to take care of the situation yourself rather than to hope someone else does it for you (referring to the whole silly "banning" thing).

I don't take it personal. If I did, I would have stopped visiting this forum a long time ago. I'm just making an observation.

If we can add a few more handouts so that everyone can live without earned income, we can get that number to 0%.

It is what it is but hard to take the figure seriously given all that isn't included, etc.
No...it's not. That's the common referred to measure that we've used each month for years now, and it's fairly consistent and accurate. But it's only one measure released each month by the BLS.
If you want the other measures, they publish those too and you're free to go peruse them.
No, it's actually not; but I agree it all's they got so it can be compared to previous results. However in no way shape or form is it an accurate account of the true unemployment rate.
Wrong. It is exactly what it is. It's one measure of the unemployment rate that they provide and it's mostly accurate. For better or worse, it's the standard used to compare month-to-month.
No, it's not the true unemployment rate and it's never claimed to be either, because they already calculate and publish that. It's likely used the most for comparisons sake because it weeds out those who are not actively looking for work. It also, I believe, does not factor in how many jobs that are available that go unfilled.

If it's U3... it's a worthless stat.
It's U3 of course, worthless as tits on a bull.
500,000 simply quit looking.altogether, so guess what? *Poof* they're no longer unemployed! Ta-Daaaaa!!!
Created a whopping 38,000 net new jobs, many sectors including housing lost jobs.
Fueling further speculation that we may well be heading into another recession when we barely crawled our way out the last one with the worst "recovery" from a recession in modern American history.
Gang that can't shoot straight. Just pathetic.

If you don't have a job, you are unemployed. The only exception to the numbers should be homemaker or full-time student types. If you are on government assistance without a job, you must certainly are unemployed.

As of March 2016, there were 5.8 million job openings in the US.

If you are financially independent and do not work, you shouldn't count in the numbers. However, if you are not working and you are getting some type of gov't assistance, then you need to be counted as unemployed. As I see it, if you can afford your way then you are fine. Otherwise, your ass needs a job.

That Verizon strike had a pretty big impact on the number of net jobs...
So figuring in the resolution of the strike adds 35,000 to that number.
Granted, adding 78,000 net jobs still isn't good.

Bullschit. Many, probably the vast majority of those "openings" are contractors collecting resumes for bids or company HR collecting resumes for data or managers just keeping the position active without the intent to fill them so if the climate gets better they can fill them without having to justify them. If you have 10 contractors posting for the same position, it isn't 10 jobs, it is 1. And that job is only a new job if there isn't an incumbent contractor. If there is, the net gain is 0, and with a competitive bid, the salary for that job is likely to go down.
