My guess is if there were gay players - they chose to keep it private. So now we need to hire baseball personnel to cater to the "out players"? They can't be coached like everyone else?

The absence of Gay players is evidence of an anti Gay culture in MLB MLB needs to turf out the anti Gay groups given special access at MLB facilities like AIA and FCA. MLB can also do more to ensure that coaches and scouts aren't anti Gay. Every single Gay player or coach, or scout has determined that it is dangerous to come out.

Maybe killed during open season on homosexuals? Perhaps herded into concentration camps? Or maybe the gay ballplayers are are planning a march on Selma, prepping for the inevitable fire hoses, police dogs and other struggles gay people have to worry about these days?

50,000 GameDay roster MLB players in the last 30 years. Zero openly Gay players. Probably a similar number of scouts and coaches. Zero openly Gay ones.
At some point, the numbers just become impossible to justify. Heck even a couple of African Americans made the NHL. There are FORMER MLB players that came out after ending their careers. Every single one cited an anti Gay culture as a reason to hide.

Why are you obsessed with other people's private lives. I know of zero openly gay baseball, football, basketball, tennis, boxers, MMA, soccer players etc. It is none of your business.

Don't really need to come out. I figure there is nothing wrong with folks sexual proclivities being kept behind closed doors anyway........

Yeah. And they'd probably be left fielders. And throw like obama.

How do you prove you're gay so you can join?
What if you can't sing?!?

It looks like an honest mistake to me. Just because the folks are gay doesn't make them a victim of anything more than an accident.

That's kind of messed up if he got fired. I saw a statement from the dude saying it was an accidental mistake, that he had friends and family in the LGBT community, that he was upset about the hate that some of the fans shouted, and that he was reaching out to members of the LGBT community to apologize more formally.
Wonder if he'd have been fired for doing the same thing over a children's choir performance or something.

The problem is that the pro teams have zero credibility with the LGBT community as a result of their refusal to hire members of our community. Due to our concentration in large cities, we end up paying thru taxes and must carry cable deals a far greater share of the costs of these teams subsidies than the general public. What do we get for our money? I wish people would get upset about that.

How many sacrificial hires would be appropriate? Please clearly show the math required to "gain credibility" within the LGBT community.

Did you seriously just post that gays are angry about un-proportional cable fees?
"Hey hey, ho ho, higher un-porportional cable fees subsidizing baseball teams have go to go ho ho"

Who is forcing gays to live in large cities? Who is forcing them to live in large cities who subsidize their pro sports teams?

How would you know how many gay people work for pro teams?
Blacks are concentrated in larger cities, so are Asian immigrants, so
are people with advanced degrees. big cities almost always have higher taxes of various sorts. You still have cable?

If they moved then they can't cruise public restrooms for stranger sex.

How about tossing out anti gay groups from the lockerrooms, banning owners that support employment discrimination (McNair), removing awards from people who advocate not hiring Gay players (Dungy), firing homophobic coaches (Vikings) who advocate violence towards LGBT persons, and end to firing players simply because they support LGBT rights (Kluwe), firing scouts that attempt to weed out players based upon a rumor they might be gay (Broncos), etc. Zero out tens of thousands of game day NFL players, coaches, and scouts is hard to justify based upon numbers. There are Gay players. They just face a horrendously hostile work environment.
No Gay players, no Gay coaches, no Gay scouts...ever. And the league enables anti Gay behavior from its owners, and its players.
