RE: NCAA D1 Basketball Transfers
I can understand the decision for CJ. Already got to an NCAA Tournament with us, wants to be closer to home, and won't have to sit out a year. I wish him good luck!
I wonder if Flemmings will get one of the 2 scholarships available?

I would be incredibly surprised if he didn't. I can't see any way that Keatts wouldn't give him one after last season. Not only that, but now that there's two, Coach can go after that WFU transfer AND give Flemmings his dues. Could be a real blessing in disguise here.
Good luck where ever you end up CJ.

I wish He wasn't transferring, i know i seem to be a minority, but i really liked CJ. You just don't replace the blocks and shot alterations easily.

I wish CJ nothing but the best. One had to be impressed with his ability to stick to it when things were really difficult, the weight issue, playing time etc. He could so easily have given up and taken the easy way out but he refused to do that. He has shown qualities that prepare him for life well beyond bball. Thanks for your contribution to UNCW - all best wishes!

I agree with both of your sentiments, and I'll also add he had a lot of heart. You could see it on numerous occasions when he would do his best to get the crowd into the game and he wore his emotions on his sleeve. I hope we can replace what he brought, and I have all confidence in Coach Keatts, but that doesn't mean we won't miss the kid in one way or another.

It turned out to be a bad fit for Gettys here. I think he might be looking to play up, according to his father he has a chance to play in the Big 10 for several schools. Maybe he does, truth is stranger than fiction. Addition by subtraction is a good thing for both sides.

I agree Mullet. He's a big body with a certain skill set that can absolutely be used in a system like Purdue. I thought he did a fairly good job of doing his part to acclimate to Coach Keatts style for the time both were here. That tells a lot about the kid, IMO.

Our guards need to do a better job of stopping the dribble drive next year, they won't have the big fella back there to alter shots!

Cacok will be huge for us next season, both literally and figuratively.

I was less than impressed, but I'll trust your judgement, you saw more of him than i did.

I like his offensive efficiency. He had a .652 FG % on the season, which would have ranked him in the top 5 in the country had he been statistically eligible. He seemed to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time for offensive boards and putbacks as well.
He has a lot of work to do on the defensive end, but he's one of those types who plays even bigger than he is, and won't be scared of facing off against the Rokas Gustys' of the league.
Ideally we can bring in a veteran big man (like Andre Washington) so he won't have the pressure of sharing all the 5 duties with Marcus, but I think he'll take a big step in his Sophomore year as he gets some confidence and increased minutes.

Any word on if we've at least contacted Andre Washington yet?

RE: NCAA D1 Basketball Transfers
Cacock is quick, athletic and strong on rebounds. He snagged boards Getty's could only dream about. He is going to be a monster by the time he's a Sr.
With Keatts record on signing players who visit, I will be shocked if Smith doesn't commit. Incredible shot blocker with attitude who can't shoot a FT to save his life. Imagine he will exit stage left at the end of games.
However, with Smith, Cacock, Bryan, Grundy and Elmore in the 4/5 spots, we should be good on defense and rebounding in the post, with great athleticism to boot.
Keatts is adding players who bring aggression to the picture next year. Watch out.

Saw that. Guess he realized there was no real spot on the court. Thought he had potential. Three schollys available now I believe.
If Keatts can keep his nucleus, and add some good transfers, we could stay on top for awhile.

I believe Matthews would have fit in. He had the potential. I think he was pressing himself on his shots trying to get more playing time. To me, he would have settled down and contributed in a big way.

I feel this is a big loss, you don't get kids this size that can shoot lights out. Thought he was really under utilized during the season, never got enough playing time to be comfortable doing what he did best. With his ability I could see him helping a big time program. Seemed like an extremely nice kid, wish him well.

Wow. Dropping like flies now. I don't like the Matthews departure at all. Shocking and I feel like he could have developed into a strong player for us.
