NCAA D1 Basketball Transfers
Yeah. I'm not feeling the criticism of Gettys here at all. He was rusty to start CAA play, yes, but he was a solid reason that we won some of those games that eventually put us in prime position for the CAAT run leading to our first NCAA appearance in a decade.

Let's get back to topic. Chuck Ogbodo. Stop hacking a current player that could be huge for us next year (Just like Coombs his senior season, thanks for that example SN08).

It often takes 2 or 3 years for big men to finally get it. But usually in their senior season they start to get productive. Hope that is the case for CJ

427 transfers amongst 351 D-I schools. That's insane.

If last year is any indication I would agree with you. 850 transfers in 2015.

850 in 2015?

427 in 2016?

Worse, or better? Am I reading this wrong?

The year is young. I think we will continue to see more.

RE: NCAA D1 Basketball Transfers
It's not just a mid-major phenomena. Below is an interesting article that focuses mainly on Syracuse, who will lose 2 players to transfer (Joseph and Obokoh).

The article then compares transfers from other major programs:

Duke has had 10 players transfer in the last 10 years. That number includes Derryck Thornton this past week after just one year at the school. The list also includes Michael Gbinije, who left Duke after one year and then played three years at Syracuse.

Indiana has had 14 players transfer since Tom Crean became the Hoosiers' coach in 2008. In the last 10 years, a total of 21 players transferred out of the IU basketball program. That number doesn't include a handful of players who were dismissed from Indiana due to academics or failed drug tests or other reasons.

Kentucky has had 14 players transfer to other schools since 2007. The biggest name on the list is Kyle Wiltjer, who transferred to Gonzaga.

Arizona has had 13 players transfer to another four-year school over the last 10 years.

Agree, i think it ties back somewhat to today's entitled generation. They go somewhere where they think they will be the man, they are not, rather than work harder to actually be the man, they take what is perceived to be the easier road by going somewhere else.

Whoa. That's a bit unexpected but not completely surprising. Well, best of luck to him. I wonder what he was told about next season?

Run and gun offense is my guess. Constant press like this year. If all 5 on the floor can run it will be a different ballgame.

That's two of our three bigs gone. And one that was gonna be entering his senior season. You think any CAA schools offer Gettys?

That's apparently where HE wants to play. Doesn't mean they'll offer.

And now 82 and Mullet get their wish. Next year we'll see UNCW without CJ Gettys.

Okay. Can I talk about Getty's transferring now?

I guess this means we will have 2 scholarships available. Cacock and Bryan just got more minutes, which is a good thing. They are an upgrade over Getty's and Chuck in the post. Would like to see us add a bigger post player to handle Gustys and big centers, and with some scoring capability.

FYI, ESPN shows Kory Holden and Canyon Barry as two of the top transfers available.

I love how they do that so often and still don't give our conference much love/respect during the regular season and tournament. Year in and Year out we have guys transferring out of the CAA landing at top programs looking for NBA opportunities, and as a conference we still get shafted in the respect category. Appalling.
