Per the article on Cincinnati.com, Tuberville is interviewing several candidates to replace Gran and Hinshaw this week. They are phone interviews, so it sounds like it will be external candidates. Unless we hear something from Bohn soon, I would say they are letting him interview because they know he'll be around next year. I guess we'll also find out how committed UC is to winning based on who we're able to bring in (and how much we're willing to pay an assistant).

So sad - we'll never compete with the big boys until we get paid like one. UK isn't even a lateral move as far as football success is concerned - just a ton more pay probably.
I guess Gran is anxious to see his offense curb stomped by SEC defenses.

Yes, considering we almost got blanked by SDSU he (a) probably already had one foot out the door and (b) won't be faring very well against established coaches in the SEC.

On another note, banking your offense on Eddie Gran probably seals Mark Stoops' fate at UK. He's not going to net that much more return on recruiting in the SEC to make up for his other issues.

RE: Gran to UK per Rivals
Eddie Grans offense was a turnover disaster with a big talent superiority with every defense he played. What's he going to do at UK where he'll have inferior talent to every team he plays

Rip the bandaid off now and pay the buyout next week. Find someone new. He's lost this team and this recruiting class is a hot mess anyways. There are no reasons to retain this guy another year.

Yeah, I thought this too...

Enquirer now confirms it--Tom Groeschen tweeting that Gran and Hinshaw are off to UK.

Tubs to interview eight candidates this week and bring top two to CIncinnati next week.

This gag keeps getting worse.

Rolan and/or Gran had their hand in the recruitment of about 3/4 of our current commits...gonna get lots worse.

And potentially whomever you bring in will have had his hand in multiple recruits from where ever he's coming from. Or does this only work one way?

Sure. We can hire a guy from the Sunbelt or MAC and then make contact with who they have been talking to.

Who's to say the hire is coming from the Sunbelt or MAC?

Are we going to have any recruits for next year? Do we look to fill the roster spots from all of the decommits with warm bodies or leave those scholarships open and start recruiting like hell for next season?

I wouldn't mind seeing Jakes Spavital come in from Texas A&M... Just saying...

First, they loved him when Johnny Football was on a tear.

Second, TAMU fans are not known for being the most rational of people and fans.

They did a fine job at UC and I wish them well at UK.

TJ Weist comes to mind from the standpoint. Now let's watch it happen. 03-banghead

With his reputation for running off assistants I wonder what level of quality the 8 candidates are even going to be.

I guess this means that Flubbs is here at least another year.

I would be good with this as well... But I doubt Tuberville goes that route because:
1) Weist is a tie-in with Tuberville's predecessor.
2) Weist did a competent job as UConn's interim coach and would present a challenge to Tuberville.

I didn't mean Weist in a good way. He's on the downward spiral of his career, likely has little to no real passion left. He just seems like the type of retread that he would hire for a position like this. I personally thought Hughes was a terrible hire.

I would not put Weist and Hughes in the same sentence. I think Weist got a bad deal at UConn and did pretty well with it all things considered. There was no way he ever was going to be retained there but still managed to scrape a few wins out with a really bad team.

I'd be great with him back at UC...
