Was it Fuentes?
Not sure I would want to be the next coach at Memphis.
Much better life being the savior!

I wonder if the question is not "Do you want to follow Justin Fuente?" but rather "Do you want to follow Paxton Lynch?"

It will be interesting to see how good Fuente is without a potential top 5 NFL draft pick as QB.

Odd feeling having a football coach that others actually want

Get used to it. I think he's going to have to have a couple of more solid seasons before this talk gets really serious, thouh.

Beats hell out of having a HC that no one else would hire.

All reports is that he is going to Virginia Tech. He has not denied it. Expect an announcement after their last game Saturday. Apparently it has been known within the administration for some time. I suspect it might be the reason the team has lost three in a row.

I'm excited about the late season run that will rocket them back into the top 15.

I dont know HCBC, but based on what has transpired over the past year Im thinking that Clarks driving force for sticking by UAB falls outside the typical motivation spectrum for todays coaches. I get the impression he is on a personal mission here, and i agree that he has a Coach Bartow type vibe.

After how hard he fought for this team, which didn't even exist for 6 months, it would absolutely blow my mind if he left for anything other than a power 5 job.

I've been drivin' all night, my hand's wet on the wheel
There's a voice in my head that drives my heel
It's my baby callin', says I need you here
And it's a half past four and I'm shiftin' gear
When she is lonely and the longing gets too much
She sends a cable comin' in from above
Don't need no phone at all

I'd imagine that Saban is on Memphis's radar as much as Clark - what are the chances of that happening???

and you know this how? (I cant wait to hear this)

BTW He has passed up many opportunities that were indeed solid for more money that he signed a contract for. Some never made press.

And I will wait for you to name the opportunities. Not his name was mentioned but a solid job offer.

Bill will get a solid offer just a matter of when. He is too good of a coach to stay stagnant

RE: Clark on memphis' radar..
Yeah, I don't believe the Alabama retirement thing is as big as people are making it out to be. The only reason I feel like he'll be around for a while is because he could have easily left this thing at any point. He went through all that drama and is readily picking the fruits of his labor. That, and he can definitely land a bigger, better job elsewhere. Not throwing shade on Memphis, but Clark could easily slide into a power conference right now if he wanted.

I don't think this is similar to what happened with JSU, either. JSU has a really solid program. He did well and got a chance to move up. It wasn't a messy affair or anything, and the framework was solid enough to ensure future success. If he wanted to jump at the first opportunity, he would have been ghost before some of the players got picked up by other teams. I just think it's a discredit to his character to spin it like he's skipping to wherever the money is when his heart is clearly in whatever he's doing.

This is not hard logic. maybe reading comprehension isn't the problem, you may have other issues if you cant understand that. also you are naïve to think that " There is a .000001% chance Clark leaves UAB for any program period"

Memphis is/was prepared to offer Fuentes over 3 miles a season. A $600.000 buyout is weak and not going to deter programs from coming after Clark. Reading comprehension has nothing to do with this. I have my opinion and you have yours. Don't blame me because you can't distinguish a question from a comment you silly rabbit....lol.

Still laughing that u don't get it. My comment was that his extension will make it more difficult to buy him out if he didn't have the extension. Which is a true statement. Not sure what u don't understand. When u don't understand what I'm saying, that means you aren't comprehending it. Therefore you have poor reading comprehension. Get it now?

Damn dude, I don't agree with you. I fully understand what you are saying and I don't agree with you. That has nothing to do with reading comprehension. And don't even try to explain something when you can't even use proper punctuation and spelling. Do you get it silly rabbit? You probably don't.

also im glad you think you know what another university would consider a "weak" buyout would be. Maybe we should sign you up on footballscoop since you seem to have the inside information. Your knowledge on contract negotiations and buyouts could be used outside of blazertalk..or you cubicle.

I don't know what a "you cubicle" is but I do know you're one short of a dozen.

So is John Grass.

Maybe he'll like Birmingham, too.
