I am pretty sure I read that it actually has more seating than dhall did. Remember the layout in dhall was rather broken up.

I was going to ask if D-hub was big enough. Initially I thought no way.

Can anyone eat at D-Hub? Is there an area for people that are not students to eat?

I would love to see pictures of inside D-Hub.

Is the food going to be the same as what was served at D-Hall?
Anyone can eat at any JMU dining facility, student, alum, faculty, or public. I go eat ehall all the time when I back in town and I plan on hitting up dhub Saturday for lunch.

I was looking at the dining services website the other week out of curiosity to see what has changed and I noticed several food trucks that they've listed. I guess they come on occasion? I didn't realize they park near D Hall.

The Food trucks are all Aramark owned and operated and brand new. They made parking available for them by taking parking from the A-lot beside the temporary Chik-Fil-A location behind Maury. They are a permanent thing. I would have liked to have seen local food trucks selling, but Aramark has the JMU food contract and will not allow outside food vendors on campus.

If you want to patronize a local food truck (one of those not authorized to operate on campus) drive or take a bus
to their location.

It's an issue of liability. If a vender sells on campus, and something goes wrong, JMU is on the hook.

Like JMUsince89 said, it is probably more of a breach of contract issue than anything. Liability for food would fall to the vendor, not JMU, especially if there is no contract for them to be on campus. If they ran over someone or a truck exploded or something then things could get crazy.

RE: D-Hub
yep, they let the outside food trucks on campus on the construction sites. i realize they are technicaly not JMU while construction is going on but i've sen student buying off of them too. I think its Aramark asserting thier contract power. why do you think the signs at all the assembly places say no outside food allowed ! not for health or liability its Aramark loosing sales. but hey the Aramark food trucks are good food soooooo.

ALL THE THINGS! Seriously though, probably just anything related to where we are seeing work done now, like is there going to be a basement or will that be walk-out-able on one side or something? Hard to get a good judgment of depth from the webcam but it certainly looks like they're a "floor" down where they're digging now.

My younger daughter (Class of 2015) wants to check out D-Hub in the worst way. Since we park in C-4 we will probably hit the Hub for lunch prior to the CCSU game next weekend!!

D-Hub
I ate at dhub yesterday. It was good and huge. A bit overwhelming at first haha. It seems to have had more seating than dhall ever did.

DirtyDukes, they have cheer wine at every soda fountain.

89 I have a question if you have site or plan knowledge. The "hole" in the middle of the construction site that's been roped off and cornered with barrels for much of the excavation - was that dug deeper for something like an elevator shaft, or did they discover something there like a sink hole or opening that needed filled. I saw the concrete trucks there filling it in today. For a while it was the deepest part of the site and it didn't look like it was from blasting or jack hammering.

RE: D-Hub
Its a cavern they found they are in the process of determining what to do with it. All the rock they have been hauling away is on Property on Rt 11 north of town. they are crushing it and may well be hauling it back to fill the void. They are pumping concrete and fill rocks in now.

They found a similar cavern when they built Festival in the 90's and had to fill that in also. My brother runs a trucking co that has been hauling the rocks out of there for the last 3 months. He said he has been told they will start filling it back in soon.

Plans look like its going to be a bigger better D-hall. 3 floors, with the top floor being some special occasion dining facilities, the 2nd being all student dining, the bottom for food prep and storage along with other fast food venues. They get done with this one and then PC Dukes will be shut down and redone, further along is the demo of Chandler and Mrs Greens to open space for Showker expansion. D-hub will be around for a few years I'm afraid.
