I hope they give it a serious redesign and a completely new look. I feel strongly that every building north of the train tracks should have some sort of Bluestone incorporated into the design.

The pitch was that since Aramark built D-Hub to offset the need for food service while D-Hall was being replaced, it would be in the best financial interest to go ahead and do Phillips Hall while a suitable temporary dining solution was already in place. So D-Hub replaces D-Hall for school years 2016 and 2017, then when D-Hall is done PC Dukes will close for demolition and reconstruction in 2018 and 2019. Somewhere in there the CoB project will probably kick off, requiring the demolition of Chandler hall (and Mrs Greens), and that appears to be slated to begin in summer 2018.
JMU Dining is going to have some nice options over the coming years.
Sounds like a thoughtful logistical plan. And to those of us hoping for traces of bluestone, I think based on the new D-Hall's design, we'll see the replacement for PC Dukes exhibit a similar nod to bluestone.

Agreed, makes way more sense to knock out the other dining establishments while D-Hub is in place to keep the pressure off the renovated D-Hall. My understanding is that D-Hub has some to-go options like what would have been at PC Dukes/Top Dog.

D-Hub has outside walkup locations for foods like PC Dukes does. The inside seating area is large but not anywhere near as big as D-Hall was it is a big open dining area.

I am pretty sure I read that it actually has more seating than dhall did. Remember the layout in dhall was rather broken up.

It is a big open area. D-hall had MarketOne, Chic-O-Olay, and the reg D-hall seating. Yes it was broken up a bit just looked like it was larger. I walked the old D-Hall area this afternoon inside the fence, it's amazing how much ground that building took up. Lots of rock busting going on.

I would have to think we're getting close to final D-Hole status. The site is pretty well leveled out now from front to back, but I don't know if they have to go deeper or not. Still working in the Carrier Library corner of the site to bring it down but they're close to level all across.

Looks like from the webcam that they have pretty much every machine focusing on that corner. I would guess they'd be working elsewhere if they needed to go lower...but I sit at a desk all day so I don't know.

OT for this thread but I didn't want to start a new thread just to ask this question.
Is the entire North Campus area now completed? I know they haven't completed the convention center and hotel, but is that all that remains to be done?

Madison Hall (former RMH Cancer Center) is currently under renovation and done next spring. Hotel and Conference Center is beginning... though I guess that could be considered North Campus. The parking deck is open, and the CHBS building is done; staff making a fast move into the building now with classes starting in 2 weeks. The facade of the health center got a makeover this summer. Overall... yeah just about done.

Until they start the expansion on the back side of Carrier Library, and the construction of an art museum on the footprint of Anthony-Seeger.

RE: D-Hub
nowhere near "done". Here is the link for the 2016-2022 capital outlay plan for new projects, a couple already assigned a State project #. Of course you have to get the state to approve the appropriations as part of the budget process, but clearly we are nowhere close to done in regards to infrastructure all over campus....just wish there was a line item for Bridgeforth expansion phase III. But maybe that is part of the Athletics Administration Building???? Ambitious and maybe even audacious to think we will spend a billion dollars over the next six years (which does not include the cost of the convo 89m, dining hall 81m, new Phillips replacement 35m, and student housing project which has a $55m price tag which may be grace street phase II or on CISAT side). https://www.jmu.edu/jmuplans/supporting-...-2022.pdf. Enjoy.

Looks like we have maybe some markings for footings? It's impressive how quickly they cleared that area!

I was going to ask if D-hub was big enough. Initially I thought no way.
Can anyone eat at D-Hub? Is there an area for people that are not students to eat?
I would love to see pictures of inside D-Hub.
Is the food going to be the same as what was served at D-Hall?

RE: D-Hub
Maybe this is old news but I hadn't noticed before last week. There is designated Food Truck parking up the hill from the D Hall site, in one of those parking lots sort of behind Wilson, freshly paved and striped for food truck parking.
