Actually, two daughters and one son. He and his wife have been through more grief than probably any of us can imagine.

I was simply referencing (Kyra) before his self-induced ban...

yes, sir ... it weighed heavily to 'listen' as it played out ... no doubt, I cannot imagine living with that pain...

Losing children destroys everything a couple has. The byproduct of the love they had, their family organizing principle in that all parents begin to plan around their children's future, and it steals their legacy when past your childbearing years you watch your peers measure achievements by what their children and grandchildren are doing and accomplishing while you have nothing for your family beyond your own demise. At my age, people think about this and those who have lost their children hit a level of pain and depression beyond what any other age brings. It's beyond sad. It's truly tragic. The only thing I could do to help those who had suffered this was to try to get them to buy into the future of children who had no parents. Sometimes, if they are lucky, they find the joy of being needed and the mission of making a difference in a life which will remember them.

RE: The Kyra Memorial Spin Room
I was a moderator at that time and asked GTS if we could rename the Spin Room after Mach's deceased daughter. Unlike some of the leftist trolls on this board, Mach was willing to share some of his challenges. Despite rarely, if ever, agreeing with his POV, I learned to respect the man, even when he occasionally got overheated.

Agree that losing one's child has to be completely devastating, and would never wish that on anyone. Despite political differences, we should be human enough to feel empathy for those that are struggling.

This attempt was a small token of finding some common ground, especially when a forum member was clearly hurting. I hope all that post here know the meaning of the board's name and the intent it carries.

I am not kind all the time, intentionally, and clearly have my flaws and vices, but I am constantly striving to be better and to listen to those that view the world differently. Even when I disagree, which is often, I ask all to evaluate the issue and not the poster/ideology. Be well, regardless of who and what you support (and being willing to defend it if posting here!).

I never agreed with him but was heartbroken for.him and I hope he is living as well as possible.

I missed it but when did the name change back to just ‘Spin Room’? And why?

Never mind. Somehow I am now getting into two separate universes.

Yes the name did change. Mach is no longer here, and I don't think the general decorum does a good job at honoring anyone.

RE: The Kyra Memorial Spin Room
It still shows as the Kyra Memorial Spin Room to me.

I think that names stands. It's a symbol of even though Mach was damn near the polar opposite of everyone on this board, everyone united for him during his daughter's fight and eventual passing. We are all human with our own lives and BS and most come to this board to have political discussions they can't have in the real world. It gets heated, but I think everyone here wants our country to be better even if we disagree on the way to get there.

RE: The Kyra Memorial Spin Room
So it did change.

I say good. Mach suffered in his loss but the naming of this place after his daughter really didn’t do much for her memory. People joining us had no idea where the name came from or why it was there. Same with Fisquid. We could go on and on with this since a lot of us are old geezers. Why wouldn’t we name it the Numbers Room? Just leave the name the Spin Room and leave it at that. My 2cents.

WE should just name it the Polarized Zone, because I can't find much if any middle ground. Please let's not start naming it after people that's as bad as what happened to our military bases where when someone long dead is deemed to have been on the wrong side of some social justice warrior's cause or opinion. It's a chat board. We are all allegedly anonymous. Who cares?

Dazzle's "Spin Room" is reserved for the many vivacious sex kittens he regales with limericks and tomfoolery (and you fellas know what I mean).

Yes the name did change. Mach is no longer here, and I don't think the general decorum does a good job at honoring anyone.

Just a thought, but how about a 2week “name change” heads up for those of us that aren’t quite as adept on this stuff.

I thought I’d been locked out or banished for some unknown reason.

As in those looking for the former “Memorial” spin room can find their previous postings over here ->>>
