All I know is UTA and UALR shouldn't be getting a piece of the football $$.
Just in case anyone doesn't know this...UALR and UTA do not get any of the football money.

We are 9/11 now. Really need to find a way to get NMSU oly in. Their basketball alone is worth it.
Isn't the Sun Belt 11/11 right now? 9 all-sports members, plus...
NMSU and Idaho in football; UT/Arl. and UA/LR in non-football.

Been reading the Coastal Message board a little bit. Pretty interesting set of opinions. You've got the small group that absolutely hates the move, a small group who wants to move but be smart about it, and the large group who wants this to be announced tomorrow and dream about such situations.
It's sort of like what Yosef's Cabin and GSUfans read like a couple years ago.

There's no doubt we need 1-2 more in the east (all sports), assuming Idaho goes away and NMSU becomes all sports member. I'm not sold on Coastal. Really wish JMU were not being so stubborn.
We have a little history with Eastern Kentucky and I guess I'd be ok with them.
My order of preference really is:
1. JMU
2. UT-C
3/4. CCU/EKU - toss up

Would like to see a list of their top 10 restaurants before making my decision.
I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

I agree about UTC, and I kind of think a similar mindset is up in Harrisonburg, lip service to academics not with standing. JMU is broke and kind of likes being in a CAA without VCU, Mason, and ODU sucking up all the spotlight.
Since App joined, my vote of a next eastern member has always been JMU and Coastal as 1 and 2, and that is still my vote. Now with the flag unpleasentness behind us, MB would be a great host for conference events and we can make an even better arguement for the Charleston bowl game.

well, how much support does coastal have. I see that they only had 5600 show up for their semifinal football playoff game last year. does this make them a must have for the conference.

Come on man really? Having experienced the FCS playoffs I can tell you that a Semi-Final game is played the week of Christmas. Any normal FCS team would do very well to get 60% of their normal crowd that week.

The answer is more than your school does!
They average 93% capacity in a conference full of small private schools that bring no fans. They have been in the playoffs 5 times and gave the national champ last year the best game of the playoffs. I have no doubt CCU would double attendance in a conference like the SBC and home games against G5. This is unquestionably a stock on the rise that SBC would be investing in, but it's a heck of a lot better long term bet than UNCC of CUSA. App has some history with Coastal from our playoff runs and they traveled to Boone well. They will be another ODU I guarantee it.
The other choice is EKU and they have a heck of a lot more explaining to do about attendance than Coastal ever will. Coastal outdrew them last year and Coastal has only been playing FCS football since 2003.

As comparison G state's 2014 average attendance is similar, take away the GS game and playoff number. Giving CCU the same FBS home schedule would certainly enhance the numbers. Having a nice stadium as a base along with existing solid athletics will bring an immediate positive impact. Adding South Carolina to the line up would also be a plus. Adding Myrtle Beach would be a double plus.

The best part about adding Coastal Carolina is if they expand their stadium Myrtle Beach would be a great place for a bowl game. You could easily get opponents the American would be interested because of East Carolina CUSA because of Charlotte and Old Dominion and maybe even the ACC.

A question for the GSers. Have y'all ever fought each other for recruits? I know it is 3 or 4 hours away, but that South Carolina low country makes up that buffer between y'all. Seems that would be a fertile recruiting ground.

More importantly how does it impact recruiting in the Carolina's? Not as much as Georgia. 4 hours out of state is pretty safe from a recruiting standpoint.

RE: Coastal Carolina
If Georgia State was qualified to be in this conference then I see no reason to say Coastal is not. Football wise Coastal is way ahead of where GSU was when they were invited and the other sports are at the very least equal with the exception of baseball which is much better at CCU. Obviously the market size of MB doesn't compare to Atlanta, but how much of a difference have market sizes really made for G5 schools?
I must disclose that I'm a little biased towards Coastal as I have a free condo to stay in, and would love to have a golf/football weekend every other fall.
